out of curiosity...
My dh and I moved to CT about four months ago.. I am not workng really.. doing some side jobs here and there. I am planning to go back to school in January full-time. I am hoping to get a part-time job too-
My question is, we are renting right now and I found some condos that are less than 200,000.. in your opinion, do you think it's worth it to def try and save to buy something, or keep renintg? My fear is that the housing market will change up here so bad that by the time we can buy, the housing will be expensive again..
any thoughts? opinions?
TIA!

If you can afford it, I would buy. You will be buidling equity.

I agree. If you can afford it and you really like something. Buy. Spending about 15000 in rent when you can be putting that towards equity is a better decision IMO.

Re: out of curiosity...
that's pretty reasonble- you have to figure out what the mortgage payment would be- you could use on online mortgage caluator to see what the difference would be a month
you can buy a house with no money down- I am not sure about a condo- if they let you do that
I think it's worth looking into- as long as you can swing the payment- owning is better- but not if you can't eat

Re: out of curiosity...
It depends on how much you think the condo would appreciate in value. We looked into doing something similar but it made more sense for us to rent. After paying common charges and real estate taxes, plus utlities the condo we were looking at would have to appreciate a great deal for us to make a return similar to if we payed rent and continued saving. Hope that makes sense.
