Out of curiousity-- how much are condos going for on LI ?
Particularly in towns that are easily commutable to NYC-- on the train line and with a little action going on.
We live in a condo which cost-wise is basically the same if not more than a house in a surburban area because I am 2 miles from the city-- was just wondering what the market is like in towns like Great Neck, LB, etc.
I watch real estate shows all day-- was just curious what you get for the money a couple of miles further away from NYC.

condos are $$$$.
the most affordable ones are in suffolk.
Holbrook has a nice complex, some are townhouse like (bedrooms upstairs) a two bed would probably start at $300K.

My friend is selling her co-op in Oakdale for $220K, which seems to be the going rate (hers may be a little less) for Birchwood on the Green. She is right near the Oakdale train station so the city is very accessible.

Great Neck ranges from $500,000 to over 2 million.
Those are the ones by the LIRR, I have no idea how much the ones up North are.

I love how the bedrooms are upstairs.
If we dont find a house by next spring, we are going to buy one of those.
there are 20 of them for sale right now!! 20!!!!!! for a little more, I would go for the 3 bedrooms. the cheapest 3 bed condo is $309, but I bet you can get that down a bit.
DH and I went to see a condo in this complex several months ago (a 3 bedroom). it was ok, but felt really cramped. there is not much sq footage in these units as compared to other condos we've seen.

we love Holbrook, but we both commute to NYC and really can't go far out. We live in Smithtown now and love Nob Hill (prices between $260-$3K for a 2 bedroom) in Ronkonkoma (CI train station which is what we take now).
I would love to find a condo community with units under 3K in Nassau. If anyone knows of any, please let me know. Thanks Kerry

Yes - They bought it in 2004 Summer - And it was completely gutted and redone by the guy that lived there before.
My parents loved their time in that condo.

We looked at a condo in Albertson summer of 05 and the asking price was $495. It was a 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath and right by the LIRR.
It depends on the area you're looking in, there are condos in North Hills, LI for about $800k and up - these are in a community like setting, not gated though.
Great Neck Im sure is also alot of $$, the co-ops we saw there were about $500k for a 2 bedroom so Im such a condo would be more.
