Outer Bridge Crossing --Any commuters out there that use this?
Is there construction going on there, that would make me want to avoid this route? I am seeing something that northbound exit ramp is CLOSED. True? certain hours?

Yes. I just drove this weekend from AC. 3 hours from the ny/nj side to the southern state due to that mess!!!!

I live on SI & I'm not aware of construction on the Outerbridge - Just the Bayonne. It could be true though. They would only close it late nights since that is a very heavily used bridge. You can always take the Goethals as an alternate (You would avoid the entire span of the 440 on SI if you do so) The Goethals would bring you right on to the SI Expressway.

Oh, I definitely want to know the answer to this. We have a Bar Mitzvah in Philly tomorrow, and are staying at my mom's in SI tonight then heading there early in the morning, over the Outerbridge, then back on Sunday.

Just wanted to say THANKS everyone. belive it or not, the outerbridge was the least of our problems. Miserable traffic on the way home yesterday. UGH!!! DC --> Jersey --> NY. all of it was awful. For ONCE the belt and all the long island roads were clear sailing. YAY!

We were on this yesterday too - returning from DC and the traffic was miserable.

Us too ALLL the way, on Saturday, it was HORRIBLE. Amtrak next time - regardless of cost (it's still cheaper)
ETA: The WAZE app is awesome, it took us off at exit 8 on the turnpike around the local streets and back on right past the construction. Save 1 HR of wait time!
