Who's in for this weekend?

Can anyone tell me about the course?

I've read there is a moderate to tough hill (anything like james st in cow harbor?) and a steady incline. Does anyone know more specifics?

Re: Oysterfest

Going south on South Street you will be fine. Then you will turn left onto Berry Hill, and that should be fine too. The streets are hilly and winding.... but I've only ever driven the route in my car... They didn't seem to bad to me, until I went to ride my bicycle and found the hills to be much tougher, LOL! I am not sure how it would work with running.... Coming back up Sandy Hill Rd is probably the toughest part in terms of hills. Sorry I can't be of much more help, I've never run it.

Re: Oysterfest

sections 1 and 3 shouldn't be too bad, but section 2 is more hilly.

Re: Oysterfest

thanks trish and laura...

so the worst is after the park? (well when you start sandy hill?)

Maybe I'll take a ride over there after work one day this week. the car can be very deceiving...maybe it's worth a run through...does anyone want to meet up tomorrow or thursday 4ish?

azad - I promise I'll come say hi this weekend! ETA: I'll be athena too!! I love it...although 140 is pretty low for athena...anytime I have see it it's been 10-20 higher - I was at my prime at 140 - that's not so fair!

Erica, the car is so deceiving!! It might be best to take a trial run. I didn't think the hills in my area were bad at all, until I tried to bike them Chat Icon Chat Icon

OK - I did a trial run today

once you get on berry hill, it's a steady incline all the way until standy hill. the incline gets a bit more when the sidewalk ends.

sandy hill is almost all downhill with a few small inclines - nothing bad or annoying at all.

the end is all flat passed the HS

good luck!!

Re: Oysterfest

Bad news! Chat Icon I'm out for tomorrow. I've been having some lower back pain and so I'm going to have to drop out for tomorrow. My doctor thinks its muscular and not related to the pregnancy as I have no cramping or any other symptoms. She basically thinks I overdid it in pilates and yoga this week.

So I'm going to sit tomorrow out but may pick up another race to replace it. Maybe a Turkey Trot...even it if means rolling along the course like a Butterball!!!

Good luck tomorrow ladies!!! Chat Icon

aw...sorry you aren't feeling well Theresa...I hope the back heals quickly!

don't ever worry about what you look like pg and running. I did a 4 m "race" when 35 weeks and people go crazy over you.

So that's where you were Chat Icon I didn't see you and I was wondering if I had missed you again!

Although I didn't get the time I would've liked (I know you warned us about the hill but it was pretty bad - half of the race was all uphill Chat Icon) I did get my best time to date 29:59 and placed 4th in the Athena group!

Congrats Azoodie!! That's wonderful! Especially for the course, it is really hilly (believe me, I try and ride my bike up here and never succeed!!).

You look fabulous too! Chat Icon

I'm not too familiar with running, can you explain what an Athena group is? Thanks!
