pack and play - opinions needed
I was thinking about using the pack and play 3 in 1 set up (changing pad, bassinet and play pen) for a bassinet when I first bring home.
I do plan on using her crib but at night I though about using the pack and play beside my bed instead of buying a bassinet also...
What do you think? TIA

I think you totally should, I know a lot of people here who did. It makes sense.
ETA: We put DD right in her crib, but if we were going to use a bassinet, we would have used the PNP.

Re: pack and play - opinions needed
We did the same thing. was in the bassinet in the Pack and Play until I moved her to the crib. Then we folded up the Pack and Play and now use it when we travel.

Re: pack and play - opinions needed
I am doing this. I had a 1 br apt when DS was born & planned to move when our lease was up. I did not want to buy a crib to just have to move it in a few months. DS was born in December & Our lease was up 3/31/09. We just moved into a 3br apt last week. DS has been sleeping the Pack N Play bassinet since he was born & he is still in it now at our new apt. We just put it in his room so he gets used to sleeping in the room alone. I just ordered his crib on friday & it should be here next week. I think the transition will be easy. When his crib comes, we will use the PNP when we travel and maybe also keep in the living room.
I think a seperate bassinet is a waste of money. Just another thing to pay for that will only be used for a short time. You get more for your money with the PNP.

Re: pack and play - opinions needed
DD slept in the bassinet part of her pack and play for the first 6 weeks...then we transitioned her to the crib.

Re: pack and play - opinions needed
That's what were planning on doing. IMO the bassinet alone is a waste of money, they're in it for such a little time that that either the pnp or crib works just fine.

Re: pack and play - opinions needed
This is what we did. We still use the bottom portion now (he's 16 months), though he hates it. Mostly while I shower.
He liked it fine as a bassinet though.

Re: pack and play - opinions needed
I would put the crib in your bedroom, not a packnplay.... for one important reason.....
When DS was a newborn, I was totally dependent upon my motion sensor to prevent me from obsessing about breathing you can't use that with a packnplay......
