Painful PP Sex- TMI Question

At my 6 week appt, my doctor recommended us waiting another week to 2 weeks for sex since I was still inflamed where I was cut/tore. My DH and I decided to wait a week and a half and it was excrutiating!! On our 1st attempt we couldn't even get the head in , and last night was attempt #2. It was so painful we had to stop after a few minutes and then I had to wear one of those ice pack maxi pads. IS THIS NORMAL????? I don't remember losing my virginity being this painful (I know it was a long time ago)! My husband is convinced we'll never have sex again!

Is this normal?
When will it get better?
Should I call the dr?

I had a c-section and I waited 2 months before we even discussed having sex--lol

There are other thing you can do besides having sex!! Tell your DH u need some more time!

We waited the 6 weeks, but I had an episiotomy, so I felt like a virgin again the first few times . . . but not in a good way! It was definitely painful and I was a little sore afterward. Definitely take it slow, it will get better, and if it doesn't feel right, call your dr.!!!

I heard a pretty graphic description of why you need to wait the 6 weeks - this may shed some light on the reason it's painful:

Having a baby is rough on you internally, so afterward, if you have sex too soon, it's feels like sliding into home plate without pants on, KWIM?!

I went through the exact same thing.

It definitely felt like the 1st time all over again. It's going to sound weird, but I was able to get through it and make things better the same way I did the first time...to just try to fight through the pain After that 1st time where I just told DH to keep going, things have been sooooo much better!!

It'll get better, promise!

I had a vaginal delivery and was cut pretty bad during delivery. We waited 7 weeks. The first time was uncomfortable, but I wouldnt say painful. Maybe you still need to heal. I would call the dr. if it was still painful in another 2 weeks or so.

I would give it another week or so and if it doesn't get better call the doctor.

I tore prety badly and we DTD at 6 weeks and felt just like old times.

Sorry you are hurting... also make sure you use a lot of lube

I had a c-section, but you're BFing, right? That can definitely contribute to the pain. Make sure you use plenty of lube. It should get better soon, but unfortunately, it may not be completely back to normal until you're done BFing.

I was thinking the same thing as you... I had a few stitches after my vag delivery... it was horrible.... I'm only beginning to feel better NOW... 6 mo later
