Re: paint paneling or rip it down?

we're going to paint over it. i know that there's only studs under mine and no sheetrock. so if i took it up we'd have to sheet rock and that would be $$$

We have it painted over in white. When we redo the room, we will have it taken out.

Re: paint paneling or rip it down?

we tested a little part to see if the glue would pull off the sheetrock, it didn't, so we decided to go for it. There was wallpaper under it and we just floated over it, sanded and painted.

Re: paint paneling or rip it down?

When I moved into my grandfather's house, the ENTIRE living room and dining room was in paneling Chat Icon We ripped it down and had to sand down the walls because of the glue Chat Icon then spackle a bit and repaint. It wasn't as difficult as we thought.

I feel your pain though Chat Icon

Our house has LOTS of wood paneling. I can't stand it!! We are going to rip it down and pray Chat Icon for nice walls behind it. Hopefully!
Good Luck!!!Chat Icon

Re: paint paneling or rip it down?

We removed it all from the main part of the house and replaced it with sheetrock. In our studio apartment, we left it and just painted over it.
Here it is right after we painted it...not too bad. But I definitely prefer sheetrock!

Re: paint paneling or rip it down?

both - we painted first and after we were ready to really re-do the room we ripped it down only to find two layers of paneling
