Painting the inside of kitchen cabinets
My mom is telling me that a lot of people don't paint the inside of their cabinets. Aren't you suppose to?  I think it would look stupid if you didn't? I have dark brown old ugly cabinets. I couldn't imagine leaving them brown on the inside. She's arguing with me over it. What do you think? Thanks again!

We didn't paint the insides of our cabinets but, they weren't the same color as the outside - they are a light brown particle board.
We were in a different situation though than you, we were just looking to make them look nicer on the outside for us while you are looking to sell.

The only time I would bother with painting the inside, is if you had glass or screen doors, so you could see the inside when the doors were closed. Otherwise, who cares? I've never really paid attention, but I don't recall many insides being painted in other houses.

We didn't bother. We painted the cabinets and just scrubbed the insides.

The only way I would is if the paint inside is chipping or really stained. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother.

I would of thought more people would of painted the insides?
I thought I should because the inside is really dark and some of the bottom cabinets smell old. I just thought a fresh coat of paint would take the smell away. It has always bothered me since we bought the house.

I have never really heard of painting them - but if there is a smell in there - I would want to put something in there that would get the smell out - I think painting it would only a temp fix

We had the cabinets scrubbed. I then removed all the old contact paper and replaced it. It never occured to me to paint the inside of the kitchen cabinets.

Unless you have glass doors you can see through, don't bother. I've never seen cabinets that were painted on the inside!
