Palin's Baby

It's making me so mad to see Palin's baby at the debate and now at a rally. It's clearly very late to have that baby up. People are yelling and chanting and it must be so loud for that poor little guy. My heart is breaking for him I just want to grab him, hug him and rock him to sleep.

Re: Palin's Baby

At the rally he was wide awake. It's hard to tell when you can't see is face because he has low muscle tone because of the Down's.

I said this during the convention!! And all those lights and noise for a nb has to be sooooo tough on him!! She does not have to trot him out at every flipping event!!

Well, they are in St. Louis so it's not as late as here. And who knows what time he goes to sleep normally. I've seen plenty of people on here talk about how their infants don't go to bed until 11pm or so.

But she really can't win with this one. She has him there and people are upset that he's up late. She doesn't have him there and people will say she's hiding him/ashamed of him/whatever.

I don't really agree, I don't think most people would question why a little baby wasn't at an event like this.

ITA, it's not even worth defending anymore, its just plain silly. Its like "what now can we find wrong with Sarah Palin?"

Re: Palin's Baby

Aside from any polical view, the baby did not belong there.

It was late. I would not have brought my baby to that event.

I'm not crazy about bringing a baby to a debate and would leave mine at home because I wouldn't want to worry about him. I'm sure he's on his own schedule & it's working for them.

I do think she's pushing the down home country girl/hockey mom thing way too much. It sickens me. I'm not looking for a mother who is President. I would rather look for a president, who happens to be a mom. Act presidential & professional.

I just want to add something here. I am the child of a politician and these events are very stressful and overwhelming my sister and I did not start appearing at them until we were 10 or 11 years old.

Children that young are not supposed to be in the public eye like that, IMO.

I agree with you, I can probably count on one hand the number of times my kids have been out past 8pm and they were never at big loud events like that late at night.

I'm just saying that no matter what she did she'd get cr@p about it from one side, KWIM?

I don't think she could win this one - as a working mother, I thought it was nice to see her up there with her children and infant son after the debate.

I was thinking the same thing but I am often criticized for being to rigid and strict with my son and his bedtime. I think so many people, including my inlaws, just do NOT respect a baby's need for sleep.

Re: Palin's Baby

Well, as an infant if we had a special occasion, Cailen would be up. He didn't sleep that well anyway, so we figured, eh, why not just have him join along. At least we all would be doing something while he was awake.

ALSO - the chid has Down's Syndrome, and actually, a baby with DS can lay somewhere, stare up at a ceiling, and not seek any type of input at all. EI revolves around stimulating a baby with DS. I'm thinking this may also be good for him, to receive a lot of stimulation and input.

I dont really think much of it to be honest with you.

While I do agree with Kate that her children should not be paraded out like that it is the image that is being presented to the American Public. Working mom who has it all. They've decided to go that route and stick with it.

Who are we to judge people by what time they put their children to bed? It's not like he has to get up in the morning for school. Does putting your child to bed at 8pm make you a better parent? If it does then boy am I in trouble...

I'm not saying I think the baby should be there but I agree she will get criticized no matter she does b/c if she doesn't bring him with her people will say and they already have that she's prioritized her career over her child b/c she's spending so much time away from an infant.

and wanted to add that if she's nursing she may need to have him close by b/c of a feeding schedule that we're unaware of.

Shes using the baby for votes... thats my opinion on the subject. No need reason to have a baby at such a function.

I agree too. I don't see the big deal. I brought Andrew to the Circus when he was an infant which is almost the same thingChat Icon He survivedChat Icon

Andrew went with us everywhere. Even if we were staying out late.
