I just think it's funny that it's opening across the street from Mama Lombardi's?
There's always been a pizza parlor in there. The original owner used to have a store in the Green Market shopping area. He sold to a man named Agostino who had just come over from Italy. That was when this place was great. He gave Lombardi's a run for their money. When he graduated from college and became a language professor he sold the store and since then it has had two owners. Now, it's becoming a Papa John's (just a little Holbrook history ). The one BIG thing in its' favor is that they will deliver. There aren't too many places in Holbrook that do (Domino's, Carlo's and Sachem on Union Avenue). I think that's all of them, though, not sure. I think they should be fine.
Yep, that is all in Holbrook that deliver.

Re: Papa John's in Holbrook
Really? I love all their food and never had anything bad there (except the regular cheese pizza which I would rather go to Aaegean's in the Sunvet mall for).

I am shocked anyone in NY could be excited about his place opening! We don't live in NY anymore and it kills me to eat this pre fab pizza. OMG blech! That being said of the chains to choose from it isn't that bad but its nothing like real pizza IMO.
I agree....from NY and eating papa john's.....
I wish I had some good choice for pizza here in NC...

Re: Papa John's in Holbrook
I LOVE Lombardis' for regular food (even had my wedding at Villa Lombardi's) but for pizza I pass. We go to Carlos in Holbrook Commons. Plus, they have like coupons every week (except I always end up throwing them out). Lombardi's is too expensive. We've been going to Mama's for Italian, non pizza, food.

I thought $14 for a regular cheese pie at Carlos was too much though. I would rather go to Aegeans in the Sun Vet Mall.

hence the coupons. We normally pay around $12 for a pie. Aegeans isn't that close to me. Carlos is right around the corner.

Totally agree! We've nicknamed it Papa Poops! Nasty. Sure...its edible, but why would you eat it when you have the real thing on every corner!

How is Sachem Pizza? It's around the block from me. We tried Joe's but weren't too pleased.

Had it once. It was ok. Joe's is much better. That one is my 2nd choice after Aegean's.

We like Mamas the best!!
I used to work with a girl whose family owned the place and it turned me off because she was very snotty and I called one time for a price for catering and they were basically very rude to me.

You have lived in Holbrook for many years, right? My parents bought our house in 1970 and we moved in, in 1971.
