Parents Who Have Little Girls in Dancing School, Please Come In

I have a question about ballet slippers. Hi,

My DD will be starting Ballet soon (she's 2 1/2) and I purchsed her first outfit at the dancing school's shop as well as the ballet slippers. My DD has WIDE feet due to a high in-step. The lady tried a few pairs on (this was a Saturday and she said she only works Saturday's and didn't seem too knowledgeable) and determined I should get my DD a size 10 1/2. She wears a size 8 in shoes. I just tried them on and they really are HARD to get on and put her heel into! I then saw on-line that ballet slippers come in WIDE WIDTH as well as MEDIUM. Why did this women not tell me this. Will the studio take them back? Is it hard to get WIDE WIDTH from places and would I have to order them online?

Thanks, looking for advice here. I am new at this Dancing School stuff.

PS. Can anyone recommend (not Target) good places to go for dance attire? I live in Medford.

Honestly, I never knew there were wide with ballet slippers. I got DDs ballet slippers from Payless.. definitely didn't see any wide widths there.

I would suggest finding a Capezio store - they have all things dance related. That's where I always bought my toe shoes when I took ballet.

Don't know about wide widths - but you can look on Zappos - I got DD's tap shoes there and they offer free shipping and free shipping on returns.

Kmart and Walmart both carry dance leotards, tights, legwarmers. There used to be an overpriced dance wear store in Coram, but they went out of business.

I buy our tap shoes and many of our leotards at Once Upon a Child.

Never heard of wide for ballet shoes. I would just return them and order online then, I'm sure they will take them back.
