Thank you

DS is in daycare 2 days a week at one of the big chain daycares.....he is in the toddler room and it is $197/week for 2 days. When he was in the infant room (to 15 months) it was $209/week.

This kind of proves my point, for the infant room, in a big chain daycare we paid $250 a week for 5 days, full time

Re: Part Time Day Care Prices
Wow I didnt realize that it was going to be so much for part time care. The boys are going to be 2 in Sept and I was looking for a place for them to go to learn and to be with other kids. My friend who watches them for me now is getting married and even though we havent discussed it I would assume that she wouldnt want to use her days off to be with my boys.

Re: Part Time Day Care Prices
When DS was in Daycare the difference between 5 days and 3 days was $25. Yes... only $25 per week difference.

Look into pre schools maybe? While not full time..its MUCH cheaper then a Daycare..

Re: Part Time Day Care Prices
I looked and looked and found one place where the part time price was comparable, per day to the full time price. That's where my son goes.

Re: Part Time Day Care Prices
It really is such a rip off. The price of part time daycare is pretty much the same as full time daycare.

Re: Part Time Day Care Prices
The reason it is so expensive for part time daycare is your child is essentially taking up the space of a potential full time student on the days they are there, so you wind up paying practically the same as full time. Its so frustrating because I need two full days for my son and preschool is only 1/2 days.

Re: Part Time Day Care Prices
Please also keep in mind that you need two spots in the same room. My kids were on a wait list for 11 months before two spots opened in the infant room of their center. Right now one of my twins is in one room and the other is still in the younger room until another kid ages out.
We are moving them to an academic pre-school now that they are two. When I started looking in January most places by me were already wait listed for the following Sept. It is VERY stressful trying to get two in the same room at the same time. We enrolled one and wait-listed the other... thankfully, the school decided to add another teacher/class. With the downward economy their daycare center has seen an increase in demand, so many more moms going back to work, that they added another section.
Good luck in your search. I agree part-time care is hardly worth it. FT care for twins in a center (for that age) runs about $2,000 a month or about $6.25 an hour if you break it down per child/per hour a month (based upon 40 hours a week X two kids= 320 hours of care)
