party time/food question

em's 2nd birthday party is from 2:30 - 5:30...

this is what i have in my head...

water
soda (for adults)
fruit trays (at least 3 or 4)
veggie platters (at least 2 - 4)
cake

do i need anything else? It's going to be outdoors, at a park/playground...

thoughts?

Re: party time/food question

we're doing the same time frame, but serving food. i would serve either a hero/wraps, something like that. though it's kind of between meals, i think people expect real food.

Re: party time/food question

I would do a hero and salads.

I would also have juice boxes for the kids.

Oh, and chips and pretzels (Instead of so many fruit and veggie platters)

Re: party time/food question

If you dont want to do food..you could do cheese and crackers, chips and pretzels, maybe hot dogs and burgers ( if you can grill at the park) to keep the cost down? Id defintiely add some more stuff instead of so many platters.

Re: party time/food question

You need a "real food" and not just snacks. 3 hours is too long to not have some. i would do heros

Have fun!

Re: party time/food question

i am SOOOOOOOOooooooooooooo glad I asked...

looking into platters now...

i'm now thinking -

1 fruit tray (7 pounds)
a stuffed pita pocket platter (serves 15)
1 veggie platter (2 pounds)
macaroni salad
potato salad
pretzels
goldfish
water
soda
juice boxes

is this more logical?

I would do juice boxes for the kids and if its at a park can you bbq hamburgers and hot dogs. If not i'd add somesort of sandwich tray and salad.

why did i not think of pizza??????

we can't bbq at this park. It's more like a playground thing....under a pavillion...

i guess i could do garlic knots & pizza for everyone - no??

eta: & still do the fruit platters (em would exist on fruit ONLY if we let her)

For my nephew's 2nd birthday they had pizza pies, cake, soda, and juice boxes. It was totally fine! Personally I think having the fruit and something like the knots would make it more rounded.

Re: party time/food question

I would not do anything with mayo. It might be hot and mayo and heat do not do well together.
