Passover celebrants...

Am I the only one who is eating as many leavened products as possible before tomorrow night or is anyone else with me? Nothing like a week full of cardboard! UGH!

Re: Passover celebrants...

I don't usually keep passover because it's hard enough to eat normally being a vegetarian and my stomach can't take all that matzoh!

I do look forward to this time of year for a little matzoh bri.. mmmmmm

Re: Passover celebrants...

nope!!! And I've been good about my carb intake the past month too... all went out the window this past weekend. I feel like I need to indulge because it will somehow "prep" my body. Although I know there is nothing that will prep my body for this week,

Re: Passover celebrants...

We dont keep kosher either. The cleaning is simply nothing either one of us are used to. We will more than likely do it when we have kids. We just dont eat bread or anything we know is leavened. The matzah is a killer for the week.

Not like I go crazy cleaning everything...but I have it easy this year - going to Florida tomorrow and coming home after Pesach ends - can leave the kitchen as is!!!

Re: Passover celebrants...

As someone who keeps a pretty strictly kosher for passover home, I can't even begin to tell you how bad my carb intake has been this week, partially in an attempt to get rid of stuff!!

It's a good thing this holiday comes around once a year. It forces me to clean from top to bottom, and to get rid a lot of junk!

Maybe next year I will donate my chametz. I have a very hard time throwing food away.

Oh, I don't. We finish what we can to make room in the fridge and freezer, and we pack up other stuff to make room in our cabinets. We tape up two cabinets with food that we can't use during the week and store other stuff in a big rubbermaid bin.

I also authorize a rabbi to symbolically "sell" our chametz, that way whatever is in our home or office does not really belong to us. Even though that's really supposed to be for stuff that you forget about, not stuff that you KNOW is there! Chat Icon

Me too!! I remember growing up we used to give all the stuff to our neighbors - horrible to throw away food!

I do this too - block off shelves and tape cabinets...

Re: Passover celebrants...

Okay, I do get rid of some things. I seriously had 3 open jars of strawberry jelly in the fridge. One from each of the last TWO Passovers, and one from when we had friends staying over. I barely use jelly during the year, but I use it on my matzo. However, I have to buy a new, sealed one each Passover. I finally made the decision to get rid of the 3 old jars, since I will now be opening a new one. Stuff like that gets thrown out.

Re: Passover celebrants...

me and matzoh are not friends. Doc gives me a pass especially since I'm 8 weeks post op. I will have some but certainly can't do it for the week.

Yes I had pizza yesterday and I am having eggplant parmigana today. I should have bagels but we were too lazy to get up and get them this morning.

Re: Passover celebrants...

I was just in the h e ll called Shop Rite, we have a pretty large kosher section because of the large orthodox community around here, and in the frozen section, they had Kosher for Passover frozen Pizza..... something is seriously wrong with that picture. I can't even imagine what that would taste like! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
