Passport Name Change
Hello all!! I was married in Sept 07 and vaguely recall reading something about getting a new passport [free of charge] after changing one's last name. Does anyone have info on this? TIA.

Its not free - I believe you have to pay 60 bucks
Plus you have to send them your real marriage license - not a copy.
They send it back to you with your new passport

It's only free if you have had your current passport for less than a year. Otherwise, it's $60.

Ooh good! I got a new passport for my HM so that would apply to me! Not loving that I have to send the orginal marriage license though.  Thanks for the responses!!

It's a pretty quick process for just a name change. I changed everything else first that needed to see the actual certificate and then did the passport and it took a couple of weeks. I got the new passport in one envelope and the old one and the marriage certificate in another.

hmm... my passport was older than a year and still had like 5 more left. I didn't get a new on they added my married name to the last page where it says amendments. But that was 3 years ago, maybe things changed.

I still haven't changed mine and I've been married for 4 years. I figure when I go out of the ocuntry I will just book my flight under my maiden name. It will expire in 2 years, so I'll replace it then.

I had to pay to have my name changed on my passport. I did it 2 years ago and can't remember for the life of me how much it cost.

Same with me. That was 4.5 years ago. It seriously looks like someone used an old typewriter to add the new name.

They changed it in late 2005/early 2006 I believe (my friend has the married name on the last page as well adn was shocked when she heard I needed to reorder a new passport!)
