Passport Problem - NOT TRAVEL!!
Although a Passport is travel it is more of a complaint about the government.
We got our passports in October. Emmas had her DOB as the 18th when it is the 19th. I called the Passport place, they told me to send it back to them and they would correct it. I send the passport and her Birth cert. 3 weeks later I get the passport and birth certificate back in a non descript envelope (when the passports came they were Express mail with tracking numbers ) Any way nothing was corrected so I call them back yesterday and they tell me to send it back in, again at my expense, so they can correct it. After explaining they didn't fix it right the 1st time I paid to have it sent back now I have to pay to send it back to the idiots again she said "there is nothing i can do" just send it back. She kept asking if I could drive to NYC to get it fixed... I am in RIVERHEAD lady!! Why are these people so incompetent?? Would it be so bad to leave it as the 18th??

did you look through the whole passport? a lot of times they won't give you a new one, but on another page will be the corrected information. i know that when you get a name change, that's what they do.

Re: Passport Problem - NOT TRAVEL!!
I definitely wouldn't leave it as the wrong date. It's a government issued document, IMO it needs to correct. But I'm a worry wart and would be afraid somehow someway on our way back into the country they'd realize the birthday is wrong and not let her back into the country.
Sorry it's so frustrating. The whole passport thing is tough right now because of the law stating you need one to get in/out of Canada. So everyone is rushing around to get them.
The backlog is unbelievable.
But, if I were you I would definitely get it corrected.

When I had my passport updated to reflect my married name I sent back my original passport with appropriate paperwork and they issued me a new passport.

I would definitely have it corrected as well. She might have problems later on when she goes to get her adult one.

i think it depends on when you got your original passport. when i send mine in for the name change it will have been issued less than a year ago (just replaced a lost passport in august), so they will send me back the same one with an insert (i only know this b/c DH works for customs and he sees this all the time).

Oh, interesting. My original passport was only valid for another 3 years I think, I don't really remember.

I agree. It's annoying but it should have the correct date of birth.

Re: Passport Problem - NOT TRAVEL!!
I would suck it up and send it back. They are not charging you fees, right? Just the expense of sending it? I had an error on my passport (they had me down as male ), I sent it back and they sent me a new passport. I would want it to be correct.

No, they aren't charging me a fee to change it. But I paid to have it sent to them when we applied for them. Paid to have it sent back to be corrected the 1st time when they did nothing about the problem and now I am going to pay to send it back again... it's getting ridiculous!
