Re: pasta or macaroni?

I think pasta is the general name and macaroni is a specific kind of pasta.

My family always called it macaroni but more recently have taken to calling it pasta.

Sauce now, but I remember it being called gravy when I was younger.

Macroni and Sauce.
In my family sauce was red and gravy was brown.

I say Pasta & Sauce - but I think I developed that going away to college and being the only Italian of all of my friends and having to explain myself re: Macaroni & Gravy - And then marrying an Irish/German man - Because in my family it's still macaroni and gravy ........
