Paternity Leave
Just wondering how many of your DHs are entitled to it and plan to use it.
DH is entitled to 2 or 3 weeks (I forget) but since none of the other guys took more than a week that's all he took with Sarah. He thought that he would be looked down on if he took it. Why do they offer it if they can't use it?
Most of the time he was off seemed like we were in the hosptial since she was born on a Tuesday, we went home on Thursday and then he went back to work on Monday. We haven't discussed it, but I'm sure it will be similar this time. I wish he'd take more but I know he won't.
What is your DHs plan?

Re: Paternity Leave
Al's entitled to a few weeks, and plans on taking them (not sure if its 2 or 3). But he works from home when he's not travelling, so all it really means is he won't go on any overnight trips for awhile.
He'll probably stop travelling 3-4 weeks before my due date (but still working from home), so he'll be home about 2 months.

Re: Paternity Leave
DH has 1 week paid. He's thinking of taking 1 week plus a few days vacation, two weeks tops.
His friend took 3 months FMLA, however in DH's field that would be career suicide. Sad, but true...

Re: Paternity Leave
DH gets 5 weeks vacation and a week of personal and sick time so he will use some of that up. Plus his office is very flexible and lets him work from home when he needs to. They have been very understanding through out the whole pregnancy for all our appointments (and there were a lot) he worked from home those days.

DH just started the police academy and he'll still be in when I'm due...June 8. They said they'd give him 1 day

Awww, I'm sorry. I remember when my brother went through the Academy how strict they were.

Re: Paternity Leave
I am not sure exactly what DH is entitled to, but is entitled to something. But I am not sure if he will be taking alot of time. DH works off of commission, so if he is not working, we get no money. So we have to find out exactly what he gets.

Trust me, it's better than what I would get, too! Luckily, i'm due after the school year is over.
