paying it foward spinoff re: random acts of kindess
i think this has bee done before... but we can never hear too much good news... how has someone "blessed" you with a random act of kindness??
i won't say names, because they were all done privately... but i will say that LIF has blessed me with many acts of kindness when i really thought i had no one who cared about me.

Re: paying it foward spinoff re: random acts of kindess
I'm sure there are bigger things that just don't come to mind immediately, but this popped into my head immediately: Every once in a while, my mom will give me a call at work and tell me she's going to drop off a night's worth of dinner for me and DH. We work insane hours and she'll just drop off a huge pot of stew or homemade soup we can have that night or save for another night. Sometimes she even drops it off with a fresh loaf of Italian bread and/or other fixings.

Re: paying it foward spinoff re: random acts of kindess
I was in Europe in a train station by myself trying to carry a bag that was WAY too big and heavy for me. It was a struggle just to walk across the station - I had to stop every few steps and put it down to rest, so I had no idea how on earth I was going to make it up the stairs to the platform. As I approached the steps, two young guys who were walking past, without saying a word, each grabbed one side of my bag and carried it up the stairs for me, then set it down and walked away. I'm sure it didn't seem like a big deal at all to them, but that was 10 years ago and I've never forgotten it.

Re: paying it foward spinoff re: random acts of kindess
I usually stop and help out people i see struggling in the subway. A while ago, a bunch of us were in Penn and there was a woman struggling up the stairs from a platform with a baby carriage. I saw her out of the corner of my eye and ran over to help her. All my guy friends yelled at me after for doing it - they were more embarrassed that i had noticed before they did and i made them look bad!
i see no reason why any of us shouldn't stop to help someone we see struggling with a heavy load in public. I feel like i did a little something to brighten someone's day

I once fell outside of best buy. My own fault. The sun was blinding and I just wasn't paying attention. But I hit my face into the cement pillar and hurt myself pretty bad and this man ran across he street. I will never forget his face. He looked more scared then I and just picked me up and asked if I was ok. I know it's not a huge deal. But no body else stopped to see if I was ok. I will never forget that man.

Re: paying it foward spinoff re: random acts of kindess
When I was in college, I sprained my ankle badly and was on crutches for a few weeks. It was awful getting around campus, and I had to go along a long bridge to get from my dorm to the rest of campus. The bridge overlooked a parking lot.
One day I was struggling and was SO LATE for my exam in a class (even though I left very early), and some security guards from campus flagged me down and gave me a ride to my building. They said that they monitor the parking lot with cameras and had noticed me struggling. I was so thankful because i made it to my exam on time without being exhausted.
