eta: or if someone has been especially kind to you recently....feel free to share.

Re: Random Acts of Kindness....
My office mate just came back to work after a hysterectomy.
She's been so busy since she got back (so much for easing back into things) that she hasn't even had the time to put any of the millions of flowers people got her in vases.
So when she went to her lunch meeting, I rounded up as many vases as I could and arranged all her flowers for her around her desk.
Took me two minutes but it made her day!

Re: Random Acts of Kindness....
Most recent...someone lost in Penn Station looking for Amtrak. Not only did I show her where to go, I carried 3 bags for her because she and her son seemed overwhelmed.

There is a certain someone on this site who has done the most amazing act of kindness that I could ever imagine. I don't want to go into details BUT we should all know that there are some AMAZING and INSPIRATIONAL women on this site.

Re: Random Acts of Kindness....
Aww these are all so great!!
I guess the last thing I can think of is that there were a bunch of rather large, heavy packages in the lobby of my building (belonging to an elderly neighbor of mine) and rather than have her try to lug them upstairs, I brought them up to her yesterday so that she didn't have to make the trip.
I honestly thought no biggie at ALL.. but she was so geniunely grateful that it made MY day

Re: Random Acts of Kindness....
OOh and as for things done to me.. I'm so easy
I just feel special when the girls at the place I get my coffee from every morning makes my cup of java perfectly .. and without even having to ask how I take it And then they worry about me and ask about me when I'm out a few days, I feel so loved
Not to mention that once in awhile I am short the change, and they always let it slide because I'm a regular

I have two "foster" children in the neighborhood who I feed. Just this morning, at 7:15am, one was knocking on the door for snack.
I do notice that not as many people know how to be courteous. They don't hold the door, don't let you step out of the elevator before rushing on, etc. It takes all of 2 seconds to be nice!
your kindness to those foster children should be commended!!
this thread was intended for positive thoughts/experiences only please.

Re: Random Acts of Kindness....
I am a NYCares volunteer. I do a literacy program and recreational program with kids in transitional housing facilities in NYC. The two programs I work on each occur once a month, and I have to say I look forward to every minute with the kids, when they see me walk in, their faces light up and I just melt!

Re: Random Acts of Kindness....
They aren't actually foster kids, just some kids from a single parent home that don't have even the basic needs. I organized a donation drive to help with school supplies, winter gear, clothes and household furishings. Quite a lot was collected and really helped the family. I really enjoying doing things like that because I seems like I'm making a difference.

which is why i said you're acts of kindness should be commended. it's a good thing you do, helping that family. i should have used quotes when i wrote the word 'foster'.

Re: Random Acts of Kindness....
well, for my daughter's birthday we took her out and a friend in her school. Marissa's frined told her that she doesn't have any toys...we took Marissa and her friend to ToysRUs and bought her frined toys. When I toook the little girl home she ran into the house and said "mommy, mommy...look they bought me toys!!!!". That made my week!!!

I hold the door open for someone every where I go. I help my parents when needed. I watch my nephew whenever I can to help my sister out.

My best friend has me over for dinner every Sunday, because DH works late and I usually don't have a chance to cook a nice meal for myself.

Re: Random Acts of Kindness....
I always like to hold the door for people when they are leaving the store the same time as me. if someone at work needs help with something i am always there to lend a hand. when ever its someones birthday at work or if a co-workers or anyone at work relative passed away i always go around and collect money for them and buy a card for them too.

Re: Random Acts of Kindness....
My mom ALWAYS makes a dish for me to take home to DH when I eat there & he is late at school or work! Plus the other night I was in Virginia overnight & she called him to come for dinner! How sweet is she!!!
As for me....I guess recently....I have been bringing a container of my weekly homemade soup to my secretary...she lives alone, so I thought something warm from a friend would make her smile while she ate!

Re: Random Acts of Kindness....
One of my past students came up to the middle school to see me- she visits me a couple of times a year and it always makes me happy and reminds me that I am having an impact on the lives of the children I teach, even though it doesn't always seem like it . . .

Re: Random Acts of Kindness....
my boss knows we don't have alot of money....she buys me lunch almost everyday, has bought numerous clothing for our baby, and even found a bassinet at a yard sale that we can use until she grows out of it when I'll take it to the store to re-sell
