PCOS

I am newly diagnosed with PCOS. I had a sonogram to confirm and they found multiple cysts on one ovary. What should I do next? I see an endicronologist for diabetes and hypothyroidism, should I contact her? If you don't mind sharing (or you can FM me) what treatment you are doing?

TIA

Re: PCOS

What did your obgyn say to do?

Are they painful? Do you get your periods normal?

Re: PCOS

definitely speak to ur endo about it. when i was ttc'ing i was seeing a RE and an endocrinologist (for hashimotos disease). the RE put me on metformin and clomid, my endocrinologist looked at the bloodwork from the RE (they tested me for insulin resistance) and he said he wouldve put me on metformin as well bc i did test for insulin resistance.

u dont have to be ttc'ing to be on metformin..

Re: PCOS

Thanks for your responses... I get extremely light and short periods. I am on the 3 month pill because they are very painful. My gyn did not have any advice. I am waiting to hear from the endo tomorrow.

Re: PCOS

you really need an obyn saturated in this field endocrinologist will help but your obgyn should be taking a more active role a full blood PCOS panel should be drawn sonos every few months if you are insulin resistant then metformin is the way to go diet modification is key low sugar low carb high protien diet keep caffiene down Dr John L Gomes in garden city is highly trained in PCOS hes an obgyn does everything in his office good luck to you

Re: PCOS

I was diagnosed with PCOS at 18 by an Endocrynologist. She just put me on BCP to regulate my body, which was fine until I started TTC. I needed help from an RE to get my BFP bc I don't ovulate at all on my own. I would definitely contact an Endo and take it from there... there are many different ways of regulating your bod.

Re: PCOS

I would find a reproductive endocrinologist. I have PCOS and see Dr. Lydic in Stony Brook. You can take meds to help alleviate the symptoms but otherwise, there's not much else you can do except lose weight if you're on the heavier side, and go on a low carb diet, which is also supposed to help alleviate symptoms.
