PCOS and Fertility Monitor
Is it possible to use the ClearBlue Easy fertility monitor if you have PCOS and are taking Provera and Clomid? Would the results be accurate?

Re: PCOS and Fertility Monitor
If you are on the Clomid, it should be okay.
Without it, you get lots of peaks that mean nothing most of the time.

Re: PCOS and Fertility Monitor
I had the fertility monitor, and PCOS, but I ended up just getting the regular OPK sticks, because I didn't know how accurate it would be??!

Re: PCOS and Fertility Monitor
I use the monitor, its been very accurate for me, but it does take about a cycle or so for it to get used to your body.

Re: PCOS and Fertility Monitor
I have PCOS and am on Metformin and I use the CBEFM. This is my second month using the monitor and my 4th cycle on Met. Last cycle I was backing up with OPK's and temping. I got highs and then a peak. When I got my peak I was also getting +OPK's and I had a temp spike 2 days after the peak. So for me YES IT WORKS . This month I am only doing the CBEFM to make my life a little less ttc oriented. I would suggest getting the CBEFM since you can use fmu and don't have to worry about testing at work. I got mine new and cheap on ebay. Hope this helps.

Re: PCOS and Fertility Monitor
Thank you for all of your responses...I'm trying to get a monitor on ebay. I have a feeling this TTC is going to take a while with my issues so I might as well splurge on it...I've heard the OPKs may not be consistent with PCOS so maybe I'll get more accurate results with the monitor? I'm still pretty clueless to all of this

Re: PCOS and Fertility Monitor
I *supposedly* have PCOS and have been using OPKs and they worked for me.
Back a few years ago when I was trying to conceive I was using the Clearblue Easy monitor and never ever got an LH surge. Very odd. I actually made the machine come up with all these question marks! I was so afraid I broke it!
Good luck to you!

Re: PCOS and Fertility Monitor
The monitor compares estrogen and looks for an LH surge. I have found it to be more accurate then just using OPk's. My first 2 cycles on Met I was getting 2 +OPK's at different times in the cycle but I didn't ovulate it was very frustrating. That's why I got the monitor. I was spending so much $ on OPK's that I figured I might as well get the easier one. It tell me when to POAS and when af is coming. what more could I ask for

Re: PCOS and Fertility Monitor
I have the monitor and love it. You'll be glad you bought it. Check www.drugstore.com...they usually have it there for a good price. If you have a FSA at work you can use it to purchase the monitor. Good Luck!

Re: PCOS and Fertility Monitor
I bought a monitor off of amazon- it was over $50 cheaper than i found it in CVS or anywhere.... and it's new. A lot of the ones I saw on ebay were ppls that they weren't using anymore and they don't recommend you doing that. HTH!!!
