Ped appointment and I'm nervous! Babbling related, WDYT? (long long long)
DS early to babble, did the whole ababa mama dadada lalala agoo agoo .... then like at 4m he discovered other ways to make sounds, a variety of different screaming, squealing, screeching, then his collection of raspberry and brrrr sounds, he was still babbling just not as much.
but at 6m it starting to stop, at 7m he wont do it, no more repetitive sounds, no agoo, no lalala, no bababa, now its all just coos and screams and raspberries! once a day, I'll catch him talking in a some weird language, but it sounds more like coos, and all accidental. If I come and talk to him, he'll just blow raspberries at me and growl.
And especially starting doing a displeased"ech" a lot. I know he got that from my mom, but you got to be kidding me, we talk to this kid all day long, in clear and happy sentences. I read, I sing, I'm still narrating to death.
When I say anything to him like "Noah say mamama" he just smiles at me and looks away as if to think about it "Noah say dadadad" same thing "Noah say car car zoom zoom" same thing
If I say, "Noah say, Heh!" he will actually say heh and laughs! What the hell is a heh?
He also laughs when I blow raspberries back at him.
He's 7m and I'm freaking out because last appointment the ped asked if he was making sounds, and I said he's been doing it, all kinds, but I didn't think he'd suddenly stop.
Do I bring this up to the Ped? Am I overreacting?

If you have another appt, go ahead and say something, it will make you feel better.
Honestly though, AJ did the same. Its like "Done that, been there no more interest in making those sounds" She just 'stopped'. It was months later new stuff came in.
Good Luck, but I'm sure he's fine

I would bring it up just for peace of mind but I'm sure everything is ok. Sorry I don't have any other advice for you because Adam isn't much of a 'talker' yet....maybe Noah is just experimenting with other sounds? Keep us posted on what his ped says

I would not worry as long as he is looking at you and noticing you are talking to him - but mention it to the ped. At 9 mts Cai would occasionally say mama or baba but then nothing.... He really did not say much until he was about 15 mts, and then had the language explosion at 20 mts... He was always communicative, but not verbal with babbling....

I don't know much about this- I know some ladies on here are professional. That said, seems very early to me for you to worry. DS is 7 months and was saying mamammamamam a lot about a month ago and now he pretty much stopped. Other than that he makes some seriously evil sounds- like exorcism type growls...

Re: Ped appointment and I'm nervous! Babbling related, WDYT? (long long long)
I think that babies learn new words or sounds, and then move on to other newer and exciting words.
For example, DS said Up and Dada at 9 months, but 2 months later, refused to say those words, and now at 2 years old, STILL refuses to say those words. He knows how to do it, he just chooses not to. He says Puh (up backwards...) for up now and mama if he wants DH's attention (gives him a complex)
Your DS will learn new babbles and words and not do these beginning sounds anymore. You can most certainly bring it up to the Ped, but as long as he is trying out new sounds, I bet he is fine.

My ped put it exactly as you, and asked me "is he communicative otherwise?" Well DS is, he has noises for every emotion and expressed thought and then some, just not what is typical I guess. I was told not to worry.
Even if I was worried he said, to look for signs that he's social. Like does he make eye contact. Does he look to see what you are doing and try to aim for objects you are working with.
and also signs of intelligence. Does he explore objects? Does he seem to be interested when you read to him?
Really put me at ease, but I think he said those things because I was in the the room singing and reading to DS the entire time we were waiting for the doctor and I'm sure he heard us. I was reading him a fashion magazine btw
