Peditricians recommendations - nassau - south shore - bellmore / wantagh / seaford / massapequa area

So after being with dr. Jassey' s office aka bellmore Merrick pediatrics for almost 4 years, I am making the decison to leave. Just lots of things going on over there that I haven't been happy with. ( forgetting about us in the waiting room several times, hard to make appointments, crowded parking lot, long waiting times, mis sent scripts ) it's a real shame because I really liked going there) I even talked to dr. Jassey about it along with two of my other girlfriends who have children who go there, we have confronted them, the office staff ) it just seems like they expanded and just took on a huge load of clients. Their front end is what is suffering. The place feels like a clinic, rather than a personalized experience. So I have it down to a couple of peditricians in bellmore. Oppenheimer, Pediatric Health Care of Long Island and wantagh pediatrics. Anything good / bad I should know ? Anyone have any other recommendations ? Ty in advance everyone

I'm looking to possibly switch offices too. I don't go to Jassey but another equally as frustrating office. I'm up in the same area as you and would love feedback on Wantagh Pediatrics and others.

We go to Oppenheimer and have been very happy. Very rarely do we wait. The parking lot isn't huge, but I can always get a spot.

I go to wantagh pediatrics and have been happy with them so far. It's a practice of three doctors. You don't make an appointment with one in particular. You can see any of the three. I have a personal preference for two dr's over the third but overall we've received great care from them all. I have never had trouble getting appointments, no issue with parking, friendly staff, dr's call you back when you leave messages, Sunday morning sick appts. Based on my experience so far I would recommend them.

I heard that Seaford Ped. is no longer accepting children who aren't newborns... I should give them a call tomorrow... Anyone hear about Pediatric healthcare of Long Island in Bellmore?

We go to seaford, but they only accept newborns

That being said, my usual wait there is about an hour for a 5 minute or less visit

I've been happy with pediatric healthcare of LI. You can choose who you want to see for well-child visits (I like aranda and Lanzillotta), and it's whomever is on rotation when child is sick.

We use Oppenheimer's practice. We like it for the most part. It's a large practice, which can sometimes feel impersonal but it was our choice.

Wow, NEVER wait more than 20 minutes there. And I've had morning, afternoon and night appointments.

This! !

I bring my 3 there and have no complaints! Bloodwork done in office, super fast suck visits, rarely a wait, they listen, I never feel rushed. Between the Bellmore office and Woodmere office they have hours 365 days a year. If I miss those hours and have to go to PM peds I ALWAYS get a phone call the next day checking up.

i just want to say i share your frustration with Jassey's practice and am glad to read this thread to get some other options.
Seems a majority of people here are happy with the practice, i thought it was just me being picky.

If you do end up switching, please let me know your thoughts. I have appts scheduled in the next few weeks for my kids, but would consider switching after

Believe me this is very tough for me as I have been going there for 4 years. Myself and three of my girlfriends also go there with their babies and we noticed a very large drop in service mid year and if just kept on getting worse after they moved into the new location. You are not being picky , you want the best. After Friday .. Anther visit where I was waiting for two vaccinations for my 10 month old took an hour after they forgot again to pull charts and had us waiting for a very long time. Any time I try to make an appt now with the jasseys it's difficult and has to be during the day which I can't do midday. ( you can even schedule when you there .. Becuse their schedules are released only at certain times ) I have just decided to move on and establish a new relationship with a practice. I have two meetings with wantagh peds and Long Island pediatric .. I would be interestrd also to know what happen to you also at the jasseys ? When I called wantagh peds they said a lot of people were coming from jasseys office. I wasn't the first to leave and go their practice.

I recently switch to Dr Kalenscher in Massapequa and so far I love him. He is very thorough(sp?) and super patient. His office staff has been nice and accomidating. My last place was kind of a nightmare.

i cannot say better things about Dr. Jeffrey Silverstein in Merrick. He's the only doctor in the practice so he KNOWS you. he's amazing. some people think he has a bad bedside manner, but you have to get to know him. He helped me through a lot of hard times. He is also very laid back. he doesnt give antibiotics unless absolutely necessary. I never wait in his office and if i call that day he gets me in or he'll drive in to the office just to see us.
