people dying who have attended your wedding

We got married 3 years ago and a handful of people have since passed. Most of them in their 60s. Disturbs me. Thoughts? Experiences?

Re: people dying who have attended your wedding

We got married last year and already have had two people pass away, and a few who are really ill.

This is exactly why I am glad we got the videographer! Its great to see these people happy and having fun and thats how we will remember them.

Same here. DH's grandfather died not that long after. We were glad to have a wedding video so we can see everyone. It's nicer than still pictures.

Exactly. One of my grandma's passed away when I was 10 and one day we were cleaning up and found my brothers Christening video so we pop it in. We saw sooo many people who have passed, including my grandma and when I heard her voice again, it sent chills up my spine. I had forgotten what she sounded like, oh and her laugh! It was priceless.

My wedding was 4 years ago and since then my grandmother, grandfather and my aunt have passed. Chat Icon
It sux because now that I'm divorced, it's not like I look at my wedding pictures and watch my video but I'm just glad they were there to share that day with me.

Yeesh, it's awful. My mother, father, MIL, and best man have all passed away since. And we got married only 12 yrs ago. I don't think we've ever been able to watch our wedding video because of that. I'm definitely glad we have it...maybe someday.

It puts it in perspective just how fragile life really is. My cousin died last summer and when we watched our wedding video on our anniversary, it was sort of surreal to see him on the dancing with his wife and having a ball.

We got married in '07 and one person has passed since the wedding. It was actually one of DHs close friends (he was a groomsmen). He got sick shortly after the wedding and died in September '09. He was only 29 Chat Icon

Knock on wood, no one has died from my wedding, but we've only been married juuuuuuust about a year.

I had my dad and my closest uncle pass away in 07 and 08 so I'm hoping that everyone stays alive for a while! Chat Icon

My ex H's grandmother passed away 5 months before we got married. The night before she passed, she was telling me that she was going shopping for a dress for the wedding the next day. She was so excited. Chat Icon

Re: people dying who have attended your wedding

There have been three people who attended my wedding a little less than 2 years ago who have since passed.

One of them was my grandmother... she was old and unhealthy and her death was, as bad as it sound, expected.

Another was my DH's uncle. His death was caused by a few unhealthy lifestyle choices, but his decline in health was so rapid that it took many of us by surprise.

The last was my 2nd cousin. His death was out of no where and completely unexpected and a shock to all of us. We recently watched our wedding video and it was very sad to see him there full of life knowing what lay ahead for him.

It's part of life and it reminds me how short it (life) really is.

so true - my grandfather died less than 2 weeks before my wedding Chat Icon

but it was one of my big motivators of getting the video. hearing the voices and seeing people move and be happy.

Re: people dying who have attended your wedding

I lost my father 3 months after I got engaged and just 6 months before my wedding. I lost my mother 2 years after my wedding and just before the birth of my first child. Just about every single incredible event that should be celebrated, has had a dark cloud over it. It hurts to the core.

Re: people dying who have attended your wedding

My grandmother passed away in january.... a little over a year after dh and i got married. At that point i still did not have my video and photo album.... i just watched the video a couple of weeks ago, and it was hard, but also good b/c i got to see her again and was lucky enough that i had her there.

It is going to be tough when i pick up the photos b/c i had ordered special ones to give to her, my grandfather is still alive, so i will give them to him, but that will make it even harderChat Icon

DH and my mom say it best.... at least we have the video and pictures to look back on and make us simle and remember how lucky we are to have them!

I miss my nonnaChat Icon
