People have some nerve

I am so mad right now. We knocked on our neighbors door about two weeks ago to let them know that we were having a fence installed in the next few weeks. You could tell they weren't too happy because we were removing about 5 feet of overgrown and mostly dead trees and shrubs (which are on our property by the way) but it gave them a lot of privacy. Anyway...fast forward to yesterday....we had the tee service here to remove everything and at the end it came down to this one flower bush that was on our property but had a chicken wire fence going around it as if it was theres so we knocked on the door to be nice which now I'm mad at myself for even doing and the wife comes out and says in a nasty voice, "What do you want to cut now"? So Dh explains the situation and she says, "Well I don't like anything you did?" The she stayed outside the remainder of the time huffing and puffing and watching everything the workers did. I am beyond livid right now and I know I shouldn't let thinngs get to me but geez......When she starts paying my taxes then maybe I'll let her tell me what I can and can not do to my property.Chat Icon I'm sure she's going to love the 20 yards of top soil that are going to be delivered and dumped in my driveway soon. Oh and did I add that we moved in 5 months ago and she hasn't even said hello yet or welcomed us to the neighborhood. Thanks for letting me vent.

Screw em'! It's your property, your decision. Hopefully the fence is high enough that you don't have to see their scowling pusses any more.

My next door neighbor is a PITA, so I know how you feel. I'm sorry you have to put up with that!!!

Maybe she's jealous that your house is going to be awesome and her's isn't!

Re: People have some nerve

Thanks girls your making me feel better. Its really eating away at me that someone could be like that. Why should we sacrifice 5 feet of our property so that they can have trees on their side. Chat Icon

If she wants privacy, she can plant bushes/shrubs/trees herself. Too bad, it's your property.

That's exactly what I told the husband.......I told him that he was free to plant whatever he wants on HIS property.

Re: People have some nerve

don't let them bother you! It's your place, you will do what you want, just like you would expect a new neighbor to do. GL with the fence! Hopefully the peace is kept once the fence is in place.Chat Icon

Re: People have some nerve

Pleaaaseeeee

we had a similiar problem with our neighbors

we had ugly bushes lining our property, and they told us they were ours...when we said we were going to rip them out you could tell they weren't thrilled (then you cut them!!)

When we did we planned to replace them with nicer bushes that required less maitenance, and all of a sudden it was "HALF their property" Chat Icon and they wanted a say...

so, we had already ordered bushes and paid to have then planted....and they went out and bought a few more b/c they felt there weren't enough, and they planted theirs themselves....which are now DEAD Chat Icon Chat Icon

Should be a fun spring Chat Icon

We have the same problem with our neighbors you are lucky though she didn't try and swing at you and hit you like my DH experienced last year when we removed a lot of ivy from our property. People are just a$$es

ITA.. hope your fence is high enough so you don't have to see them or them you.
They will probably be nosy and want to see what is going on once the fence is up

Are they an older/elderly couple? Sometimes people get used to certain things after living in their house for so many years..........that they HATE change.

Silly but its true. Dont worry.....like anything else........they'll get over it. Chat Icon

Re: People have some nerve

I am very fortunate I have great neighbors we have an attitude of do whatever you want as long as you dont make a mess!

If the shrubs were on your property they have no right to be upset. They can plant their own. That's nerve to put up chicken wire unless it was truly hers!

Re: People have some nerve

We went through something VERY similar when we first moved in...We had overgrown trees in our backyard that caused such a mess. My DH & dad cut them all down & cleaned up the entire property. We overheard the guy in the back yelling that we took his "privacy" away...As Dh said, he should have been happy to see that it was clean now! Needless to say, we got the PVC fence put up last year & have not had to see his face since Chat Icon

DH and I just took down a whole bunch of high shrubs on the property line between us and the neighbors. Our ugly shrubs were actually making the neighbor's uglier fence look better. Luckily, our neighbor hasn't said anything to us. To be honest, you have the right to do whatever you want to your property. Now your neighbor will be forced to do something about their property. Too bad!!

You know what? I'm a drummer and if I had neighbors like that, just for spite I would build a bandstand in the backyard and invite all my musician friends over every weekend for an all day jam session.

She doesn't have to like what you're doing. It's not her property.

Would you like to hold your next band practice in my yard?Chat Icon

We put up 5k worth of PVC fencing and the guy behind us (with his 1970's non updated eye sore Dairybarn house) was out throwing the rocks that spilled over from our property when the fence went up over to ours. He literally hit my DH in the head with rocks. I had to tell my DH to go into the house before he went over there swinging. Neighbors can really s*ck!!Chat Icon Here you are making the property look better and they have nothing nice to say!!
