People who have their house on the market

Do you find that there are alot of first time home buyers looking now due to the tax credit they will receive? I am putting my house on the market again and people have been telling me that there are alot of first time home buyers out looking. I had my house on the market last year and had a couple of offers that we did not accept but would today if that chance arises again. Just hoping in this current economy that people are still looking to buy.

In Long Island, in March 09 there was a 21% increase in sales over February ... I think that sounds promising for you!

We just closed this past Friday --- the tax credit and low interest rate, plus declining prices were definitely an incentive to buy now.

Re: People who have their house on the market

Thankyou, I need some positive feedback that I'm doing the right thing. I love my house just want something bigger. We were not going to put it up this year because I have a 2 year old and 5 month old and remember what a hassle it was when the real estate agent calls and says someone wants to look at your house in an hour. But, your right, with the interest rates and house pricing we figured we could make out on the buying end.

Re: People who have their house on the market

historically more houses are sold in the spring/summer months... it can't hurt to put it up and try your hand. It can be inconvienient with small children, but coming from a buyer, I didn't care if the house was 'staged' or messy. I was just interested in the layout & flow and size of rooms --- kids playing underfoot, toys everywhere or dishes in the sink did not make one difference.

It didn't matter to me either what the house had in it. If there were kids, didn't bother me that they were there, or their toys were all over. I just wanted to see the rooms and layout.

Re: People who have their house on the market

We are first time home-buyers who are closing in a few weeks, and we began looking partially due to the low interest rates and stimulus money. We were thinking about it, but those factors were the push we needed to make the decision to look. We began looking in February, as we wanted to get a jump on all the other buyers who would be out looking in the Spring/Summer (which is the most popular time to buy). I’m sure there are many others like us!

I'm so glad to hear this. When I had my house on the market last year I was pregnant and had a 1 year old and drove myself crazy cleaning up and making sure all the toys were put away every time the realtor would call saying someone would be by in an hour to take a look.

Re: People who have their house on the market

We are a first time home buyer and we are looking only because of the lower prices, interest rates and not so much of the stim. What we see are all the houses we can afford 245K and lower are selling real fast and the houses that are 350k and up are still on market (for the area's we are looking at) so if you still want a lot i think you still have to wait.

we are selling - but I really have no idea the motives of the people that come to look.

as buyers (we won't get the tax incentive, since we are not first timers) we are looking at the interest rates and low prices

Re: People who have their house on the market

We have had more traffic in the past 7 days than we have had in the 2 months on the market.... so yes, I do think that the interest rates and incentives are bringing out more buyers.
