Personal Question, if you don't mind me asking
If it happened to you, when did PPD set in?
I never thought I would feel bad about anything but the last few days have been really rough. I am 4 weeks PP and I just cry for no reason. I don't want to leave DS w/ anyone, I don't want anyone holding him, not even DH and this is causing some tension. When I tried to talk to him about it, he didn't get it, and just stormed out (he tried turning it into a fight when there wasn't one) so I let him.
I don't really know what it's supposed to feel like, I never reasearched it or read up on PPD b/c I didn't think it would happen. I have horrible thoughts like if something was to happen to DS, and it makes me soo sad b/c I can't imagine a day w/o him. LIke, if I see something on the news ... I think "what if it was my child?" and I start to cry.
I think the worse part is not wanting anyone to touch him, or worse, not TRUSTING anyone else ... and it's really straining relatinships.
Please give me some advice.

Re: Personal Question, if you don't mind me asking
I sent you an FM, but I just wanted to say that I am suffering terribly from PPD. I really do suggest you speak to your dr. about it. It's such a scary time and if you really think you may be suffering from PPD, you should not go through it alone.

Re: Personal Question, if you don't mind me asking
Hi, You should definitely talk to your doc about your feelings etc but I just wanted to tell you that I went through something similiar for about 6-7 weeks after my DD was born.
My hormones were all over the place, I would sit and stare and her and start crying, I would cry just thinking about her, I would cry filling in a diary I am keeping for her first year, I would cry thinking about "what if" - "what if we had a car accident" "what if anyone stole her from me" " what if the house went on fire and I couldnt get to her" I would cry when talking about her to someone.....my husband thought I was going mad!!but it passed.
I think a lot of it was due to tiredness and being overwhelmed with gratitude for having a healthy baby...its all so new its bound to be overwhelming...
I too was a "baby hogger"...couldnt bear for her to be out of my arms...my husband and I used to fight over her but in a good way...he used to tease me and ask for equal time...I told him he could have her at 4.30am and that shut him up!!
Once my hormones started settling and I got a little more sleep the tears started tapering off..
Each persons story is diffrent and only you know if you need to speak to your doctor and get help. My friend had PPD and I know it was totally diffrent and lasted a lot longer than what I had.
Good luck to you and feel free to ask any Q's on this board as everyone is so helpful.

I had it and I will say mine set in almost immediately but it can hit anywhere with in the first year that I hear.
Definitely talk to your doctor.

Re: Personal Question, if you don't mind me asking
I didn't have PPD but have freaked myself out by repeatedly envisioning my children in every imaginable dangerous situation.
I'm not saying you don't have PPD. I just wanted you to know that I think that is something that comes along with motherhood. Imagining danger/death how you would react, asking yourself what if it were my child? That's why I think you dont' get it until you have kids how the mere thought of danger to a child could make a mother lift a car. It's what bonds us together - having children leaves us all more vulnerable than ever before.
