pics of people in living room- have you ever heard...?

that you're not supposed to hang pictures of people on the walls of your living room?

I remember my mom telling me this when she was redecorating her livingroom - she had heard this from my sister, who was helping her. You can have pictures displayed, but they shouldn't be hung on the wall. Might be some sort of superstition.

Has anyone ever heard this before?

This is a pain in the a$$ cuz where the hell would I hang our 16x20 wedding enlargement?

Which leads me to ask- where have you hung your wedding pictures?

What???? Never heard of that.....But come to think of it my Grandma who is supersticious never had pics of people hanging up.

What about a mirror for the LR??

And no we haven't done enlargements or our album for that matter

Yes...my mom told me that....but I have a picture of my DH and I that was taken in Aruba that I had make into a canvas print.

As for our wedding pics...they are hanging in our bedroom

I really do not know the reason for not hanging pics our yourself in the living room...maybe because that was the "formal" room in the house...

I've heard of this too. Our living room/dining room has all print work - - no photos hanging on walls.

I didn't do a big enlargement of our wedding, but I do have some hung on the walls of our den (which is a different level than the LR/DR).

If I had one large wedding pic, I'd put it in our bedroom.

Yes, I have heard of that. I only have pictures of people in our den where we really "live" or in the bedrooms.

I don't think it's wrong if you do that, but when we were looking at houses I did think it was weird to see large wedding pictures and baby pictures in formal living and dining rooms. It just didnt fit in.

Really I never heard of this , I have our 20x30 wedding pic hanging over our coach in the LR, (we dont have a den or family room) so that is where we hang out, I dont think its weird that i hung it there at all, and people always compliment when they come in our home

we have our 11x20 over our stove/fireplace in our great room. I think it looks good but I won't leave it there forever. We are only married 5 years.

I did hear this too.

I actually find it odd when people hang pics of their children or other people in their own bedroom. To me I would not want that, esp since it is an intimate room for you and DH and I would not want the pics staring at me, lol. But that is JMO.

I have our wedding pic in our living room, but if I was selling my house, I would remove any pics and replace them with simple artwork.

i would not want the wedding pic in the bedroom as I would never get to see it.

My living room walls have several framed pics of my children. As does my kitchen and my bedroom. I've never heard of pictures not being in the living room. Maybe it's a LI thing?

Gee, I've never heard of this either. We have our wedding portrait on a wall in our dining room.

A formal living room I could understand. But if you only have one living room/family room type deal, then I don't think it applies to that.

Although, I just noticed we don't have any hanging, but we have ton on our bulit ins

I'm sorry but I have never heard of that. I have pictures of people hanging in my living room. It is a collage I made from our wedding proofs. I don't plan to take it down now either.

I never heard of that. I think that you should do what makes you happy. We have a big pic in the bedroom and DH thinks it's tacky but I love it in there and think it's appropriate. I like it in the bedroom because that is our space and our private room.

We don't have any pictures of people in the walls in the living room. We have a few photos on the end table though. I plan in hanging the kids pictures in their bedrooms or maybe the hallway between their rooms.

I have never heard of this. I have heard of no pics of your children or others, besides yourselves, in your bedroom (feng shui) but never the livingroom thing. I have our 16x20 wedding pic there on the wall but that's it. The rest is of DD on the end table.

I've never heard of that. I have a cllage frame in our LR with pictures of family. In our front entry way to the house we have our wedding portrait.

Oh no - I've never heard this and I have my LR decorated with 3 of the same formal collage frames. They have black & white photos from the wedding (it's actual a photo of each of us with each immediate family member).

never heard of that. my living room has a collage frame of some wedding pics but thats it. over our couch is a tapestry of venice. is it bad luck or something?

heh, we commissioned several paitings of ourselves over the years.... and guess where they are all hanging

my mom said we may appear narcissistic becuase we have them hanging up... We have no photos of ourselves anywhere, and we only have these 3 semi-abstract paintings done by a good friend...

I say 'whatever'. Even if you want a 3'x5' wedding pic on your wall, good for you! It's your home, and I'm sure your 16"x20" pic is beautiful and will brighten up and personalize your living room........

I have never heard of it, but now that I think of it - I don't know anyone that does have people hanging on their LR walls.

We don't have a big blown up wedding picture - but our random wedding pictures go up our stairway wall.

Is it only hanging? Does this rule apply to framed pics on the coffee table or end tables too?

In my parents house I know my mom has pics on the coffee table but she doesn't have them hung in there. The hanging collages are in the den.

We only have one living room/family room type of room and we have a collage on the wall but when we have a formal living room in a house one day, we probably will opt for a painting in there.
