I'm 16 weeks and at my sono yesterday, the Dr said my placenta is low and covering my cervix, which is called placenta previa. She said its possible it may move up at some point before I'm due but if not I'll need to have a csection. She didnt seem concerned and just said call her if I have any bleeding. Of course I googled it last night and now Im a bit paranoid b/c it says most people end up on bed rest due to bleeding. Anyone have any experience with this?

Placenta Previa

I had this with my DD and again now with #2. I never had any bleeding the first time and haven't had any yet - I am 10 weeks on Thursday.

I was not put on bed rest my first pregnancy. I did have a c/s but it was for other reasons.

Thanks! You made me feel a lot better. The Dr didnt seem concerned, so I know I shouldnt be either....its just hard after reading webmd! Did yours end up moving or it stayed that way the entire pregnancy?

I had it, but it moved by 20 weeks. I had no bleeding and was never put on pelvic rest. I had a vaginal delivery.

Re: Placenta Previa

I had this but it moved up. I was told no lifting more than 5 pounds, no exercise and no sex until it resolved.

Re: Placenta Previa

I have it now and had it with my first. The first time it didn't move and I had a c section, this time they say it's going to move. They said that last time lol. I'm having another section anyway so I'm not as stressed about it moving as I was with my first. They just told me no sex, but that's it. I never experienced bleeding with either so far. Mine isn't complete previa, it is lying very low close to the opening of the cervix. Most of the time I think they do move, mine was just a different case. Hang in there and just take it easy. I'm 21 weeks btw.

I had it.. it moved around week 34-35 so I didnt need a c section, but I did have some spotting- never bad enough to end up on bed rest though

Re: Placenta Previa

I had this in my pregnancy, found it at around 11 weeks when I started bleeding. It moved up throughout the pregnancy, by the time I went for my 30 weeks sonogram it had moved completely. I still ended up with a C-section, but for other reasons. No bed rest.
