Planning a family vacation....want recommendations!

My brothers and myself all live in different cities and states and it becomes increasingly difficult each year to get together or go see my parents.

So, we decided to plan something for 2011 where we would all get together - stateside or somewhere in the Caribbean to have a family vacation.

This vacation would include:
8-9 adults and 2 children (age 3), plus a teenage babysitter my brother would bring to watch his kids if necessary.

We've looked at a cruise, but that idea is out as one couple refuses to try this.

So, now we're looking at various ideas:
-Beaches Resorts (or other family oriented all inclusive resorts)
-North Carolina
-Colorado

Anybody have any advice about these places or have recommendations for other areas.

TIA!

my parents have a beach house in the outer banks in NC... so i'm pretty familiar with the area.
i think its a GREAT family vacation spot!! but it depends on what you're looking for. theres not really any hotels down there, you would rent a house. a lot of the houses are really big, and have great stuff- their own pools, hot tubs, game rooms, etc.
but, the area itself isn't super built up or "action packed". personally i LOVE that, because its a great chance to just hang out with yor family all week and not feel like you're rushing around to see everything. but there is stuff to do- lots of good restaurants, mini golf, you can rent jet skis/kayaks, you can visit the wright brothers first flight memorial thing, walk to the top top of the cape hatteras lighthouse, take the free ferry ride to ocracoke island and see some wild horses and have lunch.... let me know if you have any questions about it Chat Icon

My brother had his wedding in Jamaica and we all stayed at the Riu Trpical in Negril.

We had people of all ages and it was a beautiful all inclusive hotel

What Beaches resorts? I've visited their web site, but don't know much about them.

there's one in Turks and Caicos...it was gorgeous, great pools, and for little kids they have a Sesame Street connection, so the kids can bake with Cookie Monster or have story time with Elmo, and all the major characters have some activity I think. They also have a movie night and character breakfast.

For the adults, they have catamaran cruises, clubs, restaurants, water activities.

I don't know about the other ones, though.

It looks like on their website, they're having major sales.....now i want to go!
