actually, next month would be a december birth

this month would still be a november birth

my sister got pregnant in feb - gave birth end of october

conceiving in may would be january

Your information is incorrect.

Nagels rule- take the month that you're in, subtract 3 months and add 7 days, that's how you get your due date. If she conceived this month, it would be december, if she conceived next month, January. And if it were May, it would be February.

Actually I think she is right- Had I gotten preg at the very beg. of this month (which is when I ovulated) my due date was going to be Nov.

Now I got my period a few days early- but are now expected to "O" between the 31st- andthe 4th (or something like that) giving me a Christmas baby!

I did IVF this cycle (March) and I know that if my IVF works, I would be due at the beginning of December

According to when my last period was had I ovualted 3/7- I wouldve been due at the very end of November (My EDD was 11/30- I dont know if you say but I had a whole post, on how I was cutting it close to my anniversary with work)

If I get preggo at the end of this month (Im expected to "O" the 30th-4th my EDD is 12/24)

Re: Planning the Month.

"Based on your answers, you're likely to be most fertile from February 28, 2008 to March 4, 2008. If you were to get pregnant during that time, your due date would be November 23, 2008. "

Here are the days you're most likely to be fertile over the next five months -- as well as prospective due dates if you conceive. Good luck!

Fertile days /Resulting due date
March 27, 2008 - April 1, 2008/December 21, 2008
April 24, 2008 - April 29, 2008 / January 18, 2009
May 22, 2008 - May 27, 2008 / February 15, 2009
June 19, 2008 - June 24, 2008 /March 15, 2009
July 17, 2008 - July 22, 2008 / April 12, 2009
August 14, 2008 - August 19, 2008 /May 10, 2009

Re: Planning the Month.

My O date was March 13th, which I know for a fact, because that was the day of my egg retrieval. Based on that date, my due date would be 12/3 if I get my BFP.

given how hard it's been to get pregnant, and all the IF issues my husband and I are going through, I don't care what month I have a baby. Would it have been nice to be able to pick what month NOT to give birth..? Sure.. but life doesn't work that way.

ITA.

Choosing what month to skip is a personal choice and only you can make it. If it feels right to you then I say go for it.Chat Icon

Re: Planning the Month.

As sad as I was to miss this cycle this month due to illness, I was kind of glad my child will not be due in the middle of Dec. I would rather the middle of Jan. But I was a Christmas baby so I know how awful that birthday is. But very silly I know...

ETA: I think I am just trying to find reasons not to be sad...Chat Icon

Re: Planning the Month.

DH and I are going full force this month. If it works Chat Icon we'll be due on 12/24. I know Christmas birthdays are tough, but there are ways to work around that...half b-day celebrations and such.

My sister just had her baby in January...and look at all of the January celebrity babies!

But if it isn't right for you, then skip!

Re: Planning the Month.

I completely understand where you're coming from!!

This is gonna sound crazy but while we were trying last year, I was hoping to have a June baby...Why? B/c NO ONE in either of our BIG families has a birthday in June. Plus the weather is nice so god forbid I wouldn't have to deliver in a snow storm!

I know it's crazy but believe me, I was really upset that september of 07 I didn't conceive.

Everyone has reasons for doing what they do and it's none of anyones right or business to judge.

ok the charting software that i use has me as "if i conceive this cycle, my due date would be november 27th"

so if i conceive next cycle (april) would be december

again, my sister conceived feb and had nephew oct 24

ETA: I use the charting software that came with TCOYF -

Hmm this doesn't seem right. I conceived around 2/29-3/2 and my due date is between 11/18-11/21.

i know my sister conceived before 2/29
more like 2/14 LOL

he was born 10/24 - original due date was 11/3 (my bday)

ok - this seems like it makes sense then! this due date is so confusing to me!

Re: Planning the Month.

I don't think it's wrong to try to plan the month, it just wasn't for me. Of course, I would have preferred having a spring or summer baby but my desire to have a child far outweighs that. I also didn't know how long it would take us to get pregnant, and didn't want to wait to the fall to "try" for a spring/summer baby. Sure, my baby is going to be born around Thanksgiving and it won't be the best time of year for us for a multitude of reasons, but I couldn't be happier!

The formula i gave was based on day 1 of your period, NOT ovulation. If you O'd the first week of March, that means your AF started in Feb, which would equal a Nov baby. You're just basing it on measuring from a different date.

The first day of my last period (even though it wasn't a true period because it was drug induced) was 2/27, even with that, I'd be due on 12/3 should I get my BFP this cycle.

oh yeah- if you're CD1 is at the end of the month, then when you add the week, it carries you over to the next month. i was just saying for Marissa's example (and generally speaking if CD1 is before the last week of the month). Chat Icon

Re: Planning the Month.

I don't think it's stupid to TRY to plan.. but I have to emphasize the word TRY

We started trying in September, hoping to have a summer baby. Now it's March and we're just hoping to have a baby at all.

We considered skipping a month for whatever reasons, but decided to keep trying and didn't get pregnant that month anyway.

Now we think in terms of the fact that for someone in my age range, we have an 86% chance of getting pregnant within one year, so we're definitely trying EVERY month to give us the greatest probability.

That being said, I can understand wanting to skip a month, but that's just not for us.
