Planting Pansies!

We bought our pansies yesterday and i plan on planting them at some point during the week.

Help-
i want to plant them along our walk way but right now there is lawn there.

is there any specific way of going about this? Can i just make a path and plant the pansies?
Thanks!

I have no advice because I am a clueless gardener, but I had to LOL when I read the subject. I thought it said Planting "Panties". Chat Icon I was like, HUH? Chat Icon

Re: Planting Pansies!

I think you can just dig up the grass and make a path for your flowers, but I was going to say that I think it might be a little too early to plant them. I don't really know too much, but I think you're supposed to wait a few more weeks because there's still a chance of frost that could kill them.

I agree, I was talking to my mom about this the other day. She said it's better to wait a couple more weeks because there could be one last freeze. It's supposed to be chilly at night by the end of the week.

Re: Planting Pansies!

Put them on a windowsill for a few more weeks, or you run the risk of them being killed by frost.

When you're ready, dig up the grass, get the roots out and put some kind of mulch around them so the grass/weeds don't overtake the flowers.

Also, be careful about planting too close to a walkway, where water runs off. I ruined 30 tulips that way because they were always wetter than the rest of the lawn and rotted.

Then again, pansies only last a few weeks anyway, so I guess it doesn't really matter. Chat Icon
