Playtex drop in users
DH and I are sick of washing the Dr browns bottle pieces so i decided to try the playtex drop ins, so far DH seems to do OK on it but i have a couple questions. first, b/c i use powder formula, i find i have to mix it and shake it up in another bottle and pour it into the drop ins as you cant get a clear reading of the ounces on the drop ins. I also have the same problem reading the ounces when I have to burp my DS, so i find i have to estimate how much he drinks. I am wondering if this is going to be a pain, b.c what do i do when i go out, bring an extra bottle to mix it? and as it was anyone who feed him in my family had an issue with the burping/reading the ounces on the dr browns (they let it go to much/too little, etc), what happens with this, and i am afraid when he goes to daycare 1 day a week in niv that they will find it to be a pain. Thanks!

Re: Playtex drop in users
You can measure the water in a measuring cup first and then pour it in the liner. Then you add the powder which does bring the water up a little, for example, if you start out with 5 ounces of water and add 2 1/2 scoops of formula, it looks as though the bottle is more like 5 1/2 ounces. I just stopped breastfeeding, so I'm not as concerned about estimated how much he's eaten since I never knew how much he was getting anyway! My son goes to daycare and they never complain about the bottles. I think they are used to all kinds. They write on his daily sheet how much he has left, such as left 1 oz. I keep in the back of my mind that it is approximate.
During the week for daycare, I make a pitcher of formula a night and pour it into bottles for that night (middle of the night feeding) and the next day. It's 6 bottles worth.
When I go out for the day on a weekend, I fill bottles of water and bring the formula in one of those formula separator/pourers so I can just pour the formula into the bottle as he needs it.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Playtex drop in users
I use them all the time. I find it alot easier to bring when we go out. If you look on the liner it has numbers...put the water in till you get to the desired amount and then add the powder. When its time to burp ypu have to open the bottle and let the air out and then you can tell how much DC has eaten. Hope that helps.

Re: Playtex drop in users
Like someone else said, you have to measure the water then pour it into the liner THEN add the formula. Those measurements on the liner itself are pretty inaccurate. I am not so much concerned with how much DD drinks before burping her at this point. Actually now she burps at the end of the bottle (6 ounces), but before I would just look and see what appears to be half way and burp her then. It doesn't always have to be exact.
It shouldn't be an issue for daycare since most request that the bottles already be prepared when you bring them in.
