Please Calm A New Mommy Down Whos Daughter Is Getting Her First Shots (2 mos) This Week

I am so nervous for my DD. I know I HATE needles so how can I support her? It is going to KILL me to watch the needles go into her thigh. Any suggestions? I was told by the DR to give her Tylenol before the appt, correct? How soon before?

The DR said she will be getting 3 shots at 2 MOS...which are they? Did all of you allow them to be given? You hear so much in the news now about shots and a possible connection Autisum. Any advice?

Thanks

Aww, don't worry. She will be fine. She will definitely cry (most likely) and that is the hardest part. My DD got 3 at the 2 month appt as well. She screamed, I'm not going to lie, but it was over fast.
I brought a bottle to feed her right after to console her. Maybe you could do that? Or if she takes a pacifier you could have that handy or let her suck on it as she gets the shots.

At the 4 month appt she hardly cried, which was the opposite of what I expected!

I snuggled my baby in my arms when she got her 2 mo shot. I think there were 3 things in 1 needle and an oral one. She did cry but she calmed down right away. The binky helped. She didn't have any rections, no fever nothing. I did not give her tylenol before hand

You may have a DC like both of mine. Neither one flinches or cries whenever they get a shot.

Even if she does cry, think of it as a minute of crying for a lifetime of protection..... Chat Icon Chat Icon

She'll be fineChat Icon My DD didn't even flinch and my DS screamed. All babies are different. Honestly I have no problem with shots so I'm pretty calm about it, but just realize it takes a second. Just give her lots of hugs and kisses after and she'll forget all about it in a few minutesChat Icon Chat Icon
