I agree with all the pp. Inductions should be reserved for past due date or high risk situations. Just remeber it's your body and your baby, you make the final decision. Best of luck!!

I really want to do whatever possible to let this happen on it's own. I don't really like the idea of inducing for convenience.

Re: Please Discuss - What are your thought re: Elective Induction
Another important factor in delivery readiness is not only a ripe cervix BUT an engaged baby. That is one thing I'd want to know about his allowal at 39 weeks...
You could be 90% effaced but if the baby is still high and hasn't really dropped, you could be facing a reaaaaalllyy long induction with a high risk of c-section at the end. This exact thing happened to my SIL. They induced at exactly 40 weeks. Baby was very high and even with pitocin and all else she labored too long and they went to a c-section. SIL thinks to this day that if they gave her just one week past her due date the outcome could have been different.
I am sure the doctor knows this and prob looks for this as well, but I for one woudn't choose to be induced at 39 weeks if all else looked fine and I could hold off till about 41. Thats just me though!
