Re: Please excuse my ignorance- When I deliver can dh stay with me at the hospital?

I had a private room at LIJ. They had a chair that turned into a bed for DH. He was able to stay there.
I had a shared room at North Shore Manhassent and they also had a chair that turned into a bed for my DH and he stayed 2 out of the 4 nights mostly because I kept the baby at night and never sent him to the nursery.

I think you just need to call the hospitals and ask directly. I hope you get the answer you want

Prob not. We werent allowed to do that! Where would he even sleep. The beds are sooo awful at a hospital. one person can barely fit And... beleive me, you wont care! you will have many other things on your mind and be so tired.

Re: Please excuse my ignorance- When I deliver can dh stay with me at the hospital?
My sister spent the night with me while I was in labor. The chair wasn't very comfy!! I had a private room, but still no where for another person to sleep comfortably. I delivered at SB though.

My DH stayed with me - I had a private room at North Shore and they have this chair/recliner where he can sleep. I disagree with you b/c I DID care. Having him made my life SO much easier as a first time mom. I was BF so I was up all night constantly and the baby stayed with us. He would help me with the baby in the middle of the night and with feedings. Plus I was nervous in general and it was wonderful to have him there. It was also an amazing bonding time for us the first few days of our babies life! My DH gladly suffered through the two days on the uncomfortable chair - especially after what he had just witnessed me go through Anyway, everyone is different!

here in California (at least at the 2 hospitals I had babies in) everyone gets their own rooms and husbands can stay. I can't imagine having to share rooms with someone

That is exactly how I felt! Except, unfortunately for me, it wasn't a private room. It really wasn't that bad though.

he can't at south nassau.
but honestly i kicked him out each night because i was exhausted and wanted good sleep. i wouldn't have let him stay even if he was allowed. you will be so tired. I agree.... couldnt wait for everyone (including my husband) to leave so i could get some well needed rest!

totally agree!
honestly, I would not have been happy if my roommate's DH stayed (although I don't think that was even an option at Good Sam). the first day/night is tough - you're bleeding, feeling gross, trying to BF so the boobs are out pretty often - the last thing I would have wanted was a strange guy there.

I agree with that. I would have died if a strange man was bedded down in the room with me!

Re: Please excuse my ignorance- When I deliver can dh stay with me at the hospital?
It depends on the hospital. I delivered in CT. DH and my mom stayed overnight in the L&D room with me. My dad slept on one of the couches in the waiting room. The hospital where I delivered also has private postpartum rooms. DH slept at home the first 2 nights b/c the chair beds were uncomfortable. DH stayed over the next 2 nights.

Yikes! I'm not sure what you even mean by this but I wasn't trying to imply that I was special for having a private room. I was just pointing out that the poster might be different and might not feel the same way about not caring if her DH was there.

I had a private room at Winthrop and my DH had to go home. I was glad that he went home and got some rest.

WHILE YOU ARE IN LABOR, he can stay for as long as it takes. After you've delivered,as you can see it depends on the hospital.

Re: Please excuse my ignorance- When I deliver can dh stay with me at the hospital?
I delivered at North Shore Hopital in Manhasset and the woman I shared a rom with had her husband stay the entire time. She had a c-section and they even spoke another language...they were up at 3am talking loudly. I was so ******. If this wasn;t my second room change already I would have requsted to have been moved again.
