Re: Please give me your induction stories
oh boy...do you really want to hear mine?? Well, I had twins...I was induced on Friday September 15, and had them the 16th..yes I was in labor for 24 hours I started at 7am with the Pitocin and then by 12 noon, my Dr. broke my water...and then at 2 pm, I needed an epidural. I finally started to push at 2 am the next day, and took 2 and a half hours to push Matthew out and then 2 hours later Christopher came out...he was only with 20 minutes of pushing Everyone is different...I have had friends go in and be induce and have their baby 4 hours later...I just think it all dpends on how you react to the Pitocin. Best of luck

Surprise Induction for me...
Went to my doctor for checkup...sent me to hopital for tests and I was admitted! Sooo not ready.
Pitocin at 5pm Monday......5AM Tuesday they took it out...was going to put another in but said I was contracting on my own...was only 1 cm
Water broke 7am and then the fun began....got to 4 cm and got my epidural at 1pm...dilated 1 cm every hour and started pushing a little after 7pm
Baby born at 7:50pm.
Total hours- almost 27

Oh, I cannot wait for this .....My doctor told me that since I was going to be given Pitocin, that I would be able to get an epidural as early as I wanted, and I would not have to wait to be a certain centimeter dialated....was this your experience as well?

Yup - although I was already 3 cm when I got there but they said I could have the epi any time I wanted. I arrived at 6:30am, started pitocin at 8:30, got epi at 10:30 and he was born at 6:39. It really was not bad at all (after the epi that is!) I stalled out at 8cm and they kicked up the Pitocin. I only pushed for 45 min (which felt like 5) and he flew out. Honestly L&D was a breeze, the recovery was much harder for me.

Do you think the recovery part was harder due to the induction or just the whole experience? Sorry for all the questions, I appreciate your help

My doctor said that I will go into the office to see him the night before induction and if my cervix is not soft, he will give me the cervadil then, then the next morning, I will be induced. Hopefully by then, I will have dialated a bit. We'll see how this goes

Just the whole experience - it had NOTHING to do w/being induced. I was a week late and was VERY Ready to go...but I was completely overwhelmed w/taking care of the baby, breast feeding and recovering with no sleep. I also had way too many visitors in the hospital when I really needed to rest. It was more emotionally overwhelming than anything else. You will be fine! You eventually do find a whole new version of "normal" and it's great

Re: Please give me your induction stories
Here's mine- I went to the doctor and found out my blood pressure rose. Two days later I had to go for a stress test to make sure my BP wasn't affecting the baby. They hooked me up and monitored me for an hour. As soon as I got off the monitor the doctor came in and said I had to go to the hospital I needed to be induced My BP was up and I was having steady contractions (That I wasn't feeling!)
We drove to the hospital and I was admitted into a room at 12:00 noon. I was 4cm dialated! They broke my water and started the pitocin shortly after. Then the contractions SLAMMED me. They did an epi (but it wasn't strong enough) and I got to feel everything The contractions just kept coming stronger and stronger and 30 seconds apart. I pushed for an hour and the baby was born at 4:28. Mine was very quick. I was 10 days early.
ETA- I forgot this part-- You have to be FULLY hydrated in order to get the epi. Drink a TON of water before hand!! When they put me on the pitocin I took to it very quickly and I had to wait for the epi because I wasn't hydrated enough yet. They had me hooked up to an IV but it wasn't going into me fast enough. The nurse was squeezing it into me so I could finish the bag and then have the dr. come in and give the epi. (which didn't work too well for me, but Oh well )

Re: Please give me your induction stories
My Cervidil was place 800 pm and I was given a sleeping pill, 800 am cervidil was removed and water was broken. Pitocin was started at 10am and I asked for an epi at 1230 at 3cm dilated. DD flew out at 402 pm with 5 pushes. It was a great birth. I wish you the same

Re: Please give me your induction stories
I was induced on Saturday morning at like 9 am, Noah was born on Monday night at 9 pm. I was in labor for around 36 hours, it was not a nice way to have a baby. Next baby I will sit at home and wait with.
What they don't tell you is that with induction you are likely to go from very little mild labor to HUGE FULL BLOWN EXCRUITIATING LABOR within minutes, its best to have an epidural as early as possible.
Again, I didn't have a terrible experience, but it was harsh and not fun to be in labor for like 72 hours...

Re: Please give me your induction stories
I had a pretty good induction experience.
I was 60% effaced and almost 2 cm when I was admitted so I didn't need cervadil. They started pitocin at 9:15am (only felt af like cramping), broke water at 10, epidural at 12, started pushing at 6, baby born at 7:15pm. So 10 hrs total
I had some minor problems with the epi (you can search for my birth story for more details - sorry only have one finger free right now!)
Honestly I'd want to be induced again based on my first experience. Its all very controlled and I always knew what to expect and I was kept very comfortable.
Good luck

Re: Please give me your induction stories
I was induced with my second, on my due date. Initially, the doctor was set to induce me four days before, due to pih. However, as my bp was stable and as my daughter's stress tests and fluid levels were fine, she decided to let me go to my due date. I really believe that this saved me from having a c section. Interestingly, I had a pregnancy with a lot of testing and intervention but she sent me home with castor oil and told me to start taking it the night before induction. I remember saying to her with all this high tech stuff "this is all you got for me?'" Not sure if it worked or not, but the morning of my induction I was a little over 1 cm. and was put directly onto Pitocin. I delivered within seven hours and was never really that uncomfortable even before the epidural.
Good luck

I had pitocin when I had the girls, and went natural with DS. The recovery after induction/pitocin was SO much harder for me.
