Please help - 2 year old DS will not go to bed at night (never mind naps!) - kind of long
My GREAT sleeper is all of a sudden having a horrible time going to bed (both at night and for naps).
He was taking one nap in the afternoon around 2ish, but for the last month or so he won't take his afternoon nap, even though I think he needs it (he is sooo cranky!). For a while, I still just put him in his crbi and let him rest for a while, even if he didn't go to sleep. He used to not mind this, but after a while he just kept calling me and would get upset. Last week he was sooo upset when I left the room he screamed bloody murder and climbed out of his crib. I haven't put him in his crib at all for a nap since then. He naps in the car - if he naps at all. Once he fell asleep on the couch with me watching a movie.
But my bigger concern is really bed time. He used to be soooooo easy at bed time no matter what. For the last week or so he screams when I put him in his crib for bedtime too! I stand right by his door when I leave and watch him on the monitor - he hasn't tried to climb out of his crib at bedtime yet, he just cries. And then eventually sits in teh corner and ends up falling asleep sitting up.
He has also been waking up extra early in teh morning. We have tried so many things to ge thim to sleep later, like he used to. We recently put a garbage bag on his window to really block the light and it seems to have helped..... i think....
We are moving to our new house within the month - where we will switch him to a bed. I am worried that bedtime will get even worse then! AND I am due with #2 in October.
If you've read this far - THANKS!!!!! Any suggestions? What could be wrong all of a sudden? DH and I are so disagreeing on what coudl be going on and what we should do about it.

honestly... he's so overtired that he's becoming a mess. My son gets like that too if his sleep is thrown off or he doesn't nap well.
what was his normal schedule? what time does he get up in the morning?

(ugh, he's been in his crib for almost an hour, just sitting in the corner. I went up once to encourage him to lay down, but he just cried again and I feel bad makign him cry more, so I've just been letting him sit there)...
He used to wake up between 8 and 9 am. Now he could wake up as early as 630, but usually it's around 7.
He was going to sleep at night around 8 pm.
He was napping anywhere from 1-2 1/2 hours, but usually 1 1/2.

okay so when was he going down for his naps before?
My son can only do 5 hours after waking. So he gets up at 7am and he goes for his nap at 12.
I would try to put him down for his nap around 12ish and do whatever you can to get him to nap. Can you rock him? rub his back?

He was going down for his nap around 2. He seemed to do best when he was napping 5-6 hours after waking up in the morning.
i'm terrified to put him in his crib for naps again. I would feel so much better if he would just go to bed happy...

well i would go back to trying to get him to nap however you possibly can. Can you transport him? have him fall asleep in the car and then transport him to the crib?
worst case scenario... are you opposed to CIO?
