Please help- Party Place needed BADLY!!
My parents and i want to give my sis a surprise 30th bday. She and many of her friends live in NYC and the rest (and family) are here on LI. So im looking for something in West Nassau or NYC.
I want a private room which has buffet-style food and cocktails
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

I've recommended this place everywhere. It's in Plainview. The Main Event. It's a great big place with a giant bar and big screen TV's everywhere. The food is great and the people are so nice. I had DH's 40th there.

Papa-Razzi in Westbury (next to Westbury Manor) is really nice and I've been to a party there that was very well done.

I've never been there, but have seen many people on here recommend the Seventh St. Cafe in Garden City. I was thinking it might work well for your group, since it is walking distance from the Garden City train station if anyone is coming from the city.

The thing i dont like about this place is that the private room is downstairs and its so "basement-like" to me

we have been having our parties at the American Legion in East Rockaway(right by lynbrook) there is a train station right down the block.... they are great!!

There is a magazine called Locations, if you plug "Locations Magazine" into google it will bring up the website, they have info on loads of places in NY, you can I think search by area. They don't have the very small places, but it is worth a try. Good luck

Jack Duggan's in Floral Park - down the street from the LIRR train station. You get the entire upstairs (hardwood floors, exposed brick walls, fireplace)
there is a dining room, bar and lounge area upstairs. I had my rehearsal dinner there for 35 people - it was such a hit that I asked my mom to have my baby shower there.
it's got an irish pub feel.

What about TR's in Williston Park. Never been to a party there, but ate there and the food was great. I know that they do private parties upstairs in their dining room. And it's right on the LIRR for those commuting.

This is probably going to sound like a silly idea, but I swear it's not. Try Dave and Buster's.
We had my son's 1st birthday party there, and it was fantastic! The food was buffet style and terrific, we had the option of running a bar tab or paying for an open bar, the room is private and if anyone wants to wander beyond the room, there's plenty of entertainment!

I think Meehan's in Huntington Village is a great party place. They have a separate room called the Oak Room (I believe). It's spacious, food is good and afterwards people can go next door to Meehan's for an after party.
My other suggestion is in Huntington as well it's called Mangiano (formerly known as Tello's). They too have a separate party room (upstairs), food is family style, good and reasonable. I had my baby shower and my sister's bridal shower there.
ETA: Your sister and her friends can take LIRR to Huntington and hop in a cab for 5 minutes and they are there.

Mulcahy's in Wantagh has a private party room ans the train is steps away. Alos there is Peppercorn's in Hicksville amd the train is right there.

There is a place in Rockefeller Center that is fabulous. It's a wine bar type of thing. The food is delicious. You get to make food during the event. It's fabulous. Don't know how $$$ though.
It's called Tuscan Square.

I second Pompei. I had my baby shower there and know of many others who have had parties from showers to engagement to b-day parties there.
Food and service wre great and prices were very reasonable.

I had mine at PS450 - 450 Park Avenue South. It was amazing - the owners also have a couple other similar places in the City. Just google it.
