Please help......9 month old still waking at night to eat
....and its driving me nutso. He was STTN for such a long time....from like 3 months on. Then last month he got a really bad cold and I let him sleep in the swing b/c it made breathing easier for him since he was inclined a bit. But since then every night he's waking up. I normally try to rock him back to sleep first since I know that at 9 mons he's passed the point where he should be waking for night time feedings. But that doesn't work. Any advice would be welcomed

Re: Please help......9 month old still waking at night to eat
I have a similar issue with my DD and I think that at this point they are not looking for the bottle out of hunger, but more to soothe themselves back to sleep. Does he still take a paci at all? Sometimes I will give her the paci and it will work- other times though she only wants the bottle.
I am not very good at CIO either- but I think it might be in order.

Yes he takes the paci.....I try popping back in his mouth and patting his back but he always turns himself over and just cries and cries.

Re: Please help......9 month old still waking at night to eat
My 9mo has been sleeping 8ish-5am since he was 16 weeks. I can not get him past the 5-5:30 point. I give him the bink, then sometimes give him another bink to play with in his hands, and then I end up giving him a 2oz RTF. After that, he rolls right over and goes back to sleep. I am not ready to start my day at 5am. Its so frustrating bc once he is on milk, what am I going to do?

I think you may have to try CIO. It's hard, but it works. At 9 months, they shouldn't be waking for a bottle. DD uses a paci, so I just leave a bunch in htere and IF she wakes up (which is rare) she'll find one and put it in her mouth and go right back to sleep.
any time DD's schedule gets messed up, I usually have to CIO for a night or two to get her back on schedule.but she'll only CIO for about 2 minutes.
The other thing..how much is he eating during the day? Could he actually be hungrY?
Good luck!

I think CIO is going to be my next option. The only problem is sometimes he pees through his diaper so I never know if he's crying b/c he's wet or hungry or just wants me to hold him. So I feel like I HAVE to get up and check him and stuff. Then I make him a 7oz bottle and he guzzles the whole bottle in no time. I dont even know HOW to do CIO. Is it easy? Do you just put them in their crib and let them cry until they fall asleep or do you have to get them after a certain amount of time? Sorry for all the questions.

DD was peeing through her diapers too.. I went up a size and into overnights at night and that solved that..have you tried that? Also, i put it higher in the front since she's a belly sleeper. for CIO- are you having issues getting him to sleep? or just the waking? Mine was just the waking.so I would go in, give her the paci and say "it's sleepy time, good night" and l'd lay her down. She cried for about 10 mins the first night, 5 the second and never woke up again. When I had to do it a second time after a bad week of teething, she cried for 2 mins and fell asleep stanidng up! so I went in a laid her down and she was fine. I know that may not be the case with everyone, but I really think they wake out of habit. it should take a week at the most to break the habit. Turn the sound down on your moniter..not off, just down. and keep on eye on him through the video. It's rough, but I'm sure you need sleep too!!
ETA: for me personally, I don't think I'd let her cry more than 15 mins..but that's your personal choice..some babies cry for 30 mins before they get to sleep.

Re: Please help......9 month old still waking at night to eat
I would stop feeding him in the middle of the night. He will start drinking more during the day to balance it out. He is probably just used to eating at night so he is hungry but it will balance out after a few days.
