Please help...Re: swollen feet and work shoes
I am going nuts. I think I just tried on EVERY frekkin shoe in DSW. Half of them I cant even get my foot in to and the other half felt like my foot was bulging out the top or sides.
Even ballet flats dont work.. I have BRUISES on the sides of my feet because when they swell the sides of the flats dig in the the sides on my feet.
I'm a teacher and not due until January...
WHAT in the world can I do? I cant exactly wear Uggs with dress pants!!!!!

I am a size 9 regularly-not exactly dainty. I had to buy....wait for it.....a size 11!!!!!!! for my shower. Go to payless and try on Wide shoes. Find a comfy pair and wear them every work day. On the weekend wear slippers or flip flops

I was wondering what women do in your position...... I'm shamelessly wearing flip flops.
I know it's ugly and orthapedic looking, but something in a stretchy fabric is basically the only thing I could imagine working for me at this point. (once the baby drops (for me-35 weeks) the swelling inreases exponentially!)

Hmm .. you know.. it is funny you say that. This kid is WAY low (im only almost 24 weeks) but all kicks and movement are below my belly button at all times. I wonder if this is why I am swelling so bad this early?!

Re: Please help...Re: swollen feet and work shoes
could be! the baby's weight presses on the veins returning from your legs, which of course causes stuff to pool by your ankles and feet (just like someone with a heart condition.....)
it only gets worse as the baby gains weight

i'm a teacher too and i wore reef flip flops until the day i was due to work. they can't say anything to you about your shoes. even though you're due in january, you'll probably be hot and can wear them through november

I wore my reefs too! I couldnt even go near real shoes...
Are you allowed to wear jeans to work and a nice top? maybe then you can get away with wearing your uggs... i usually wear my uggs all winter long- but jeans arent a problem at my school... also, some brand of shoes come in an "extra wide" size... maybe try something like that?

Re: Please help...Re: swollen feet and work shoes
I just got a nice (flexible) pair of ballet sort of flats at Target. They are chocolate brown and have an elastic band going across the front... I plan to wear them with dress pants to work.

Those are so cute!!!! I have a bunch of basic ballet flats from Old Navy and Payless in brown, black and a silvery-gray.
I haven't had swollen feet yet, but I am sure my time will come!

Re: Please help...Re: swollen feet and work shoes
I just made a post about this the other day! I'm also a teacher and my shoes just stopped fitting on Wed.! I really think I am going to wear sneakers until December--cute ones--not athletic ones. I figure that most of my pants are long enough to cover most of the sneaker or I will just wear jeans and a nice top. My school is definitely on the casual side though and BIG, so I can kind of get lost in the crowd.

Re: Please help...Re: swollen feet and work shoes
I'm having the same problem. They are perpetually swollen, both feet and ankles. Last weekend I went to the Riverhead outlets and I bought 3 pairs --granted, they were 9 WW, but they fit.
They have Naturalizer & Easy Spirit there, both which carry the wide width shoes. I wear pants all the time, so you only see the toe of my shoes, which makes them look a little more "fashion-forward." They also have a Puma outlet, and I may look to buy a pair of sneakers a size or two bigger.
I'm also goingto buy a pear of Danskin ballet slipper esque slippers to keep at my desk.
I'm due end of Jan as well, so its going to be only long winter/fall.

I'm a teacher also. Flip flops are the only thing that fit - although I did wear my uggs in the morning last week, but by 9 am, I changed into flip flops again. If I wasn't due so soon, I'd buy crocs.

Don't even get me started on that subject. I totally need to finally bite the bullet and get measured for some new bras this week sometime.

I was VERY swollen, My dr told me to wear sneakers only...they actually help control the swelling...
My principal had no probs with it at all.
Maybe you should do the same.

Re: Please help...Re: swollen feet and work shoes
Keep in mind- the weather is starting to cool down- so you will at least have SOME relief from swelling.
I also found that decreasing my salt intake and drinking LOTS of water has helped. Also- when sitting at my desk, I have a little stool that I rest my feet on.

I am a teacher and was due in January. I wore these sketchers all the time. It got to the point where I had to cut the strap off but they were very comfortable! Image Attachment(s):

Re: Please help...Re: swollen feet and work shoes
Can you get a cute pair of black sneakers? Something not bulky - Like Pumas? If you get black UGGS you can probably wear those to work .........
I'm dreading this as well, I have to wear a suit every day - How the hell do you find appropriate shoes for swollen feet when you normally walk around in 4 inch stillettos?

Thanks for posting this, makes sense why I swell up on the cool days also.
I have no idea what I'm going to do about shoes either, if I figure it out I'll let you know

Re: Please help...Re: swollen feet and work shoes
I haven't had much swelling at all until very recently. Today, I could barely fit into my shoes. I can wear flats sometimes, but most of my work pants are too long for flats. When the weather is cooler, I plan to wear Uggs as often as possible. I'm most worried about what shoes to wear when I wear suits. I'll probably have to get some new shoes soon. Hope your swelling goes down.
