PLEASE PRAY FOR MY DOG JENSEN- UPDATE 8/13
He went in to be neutered today and we knew it would be more involved b/c he had one undecended testicle. Long story short- the vet screwed up. Couldn't find the undecended testicle and accidentally cut into his urethra in the process. Now my baby has to be hospitalized for five days and I'm praying that he doesn't have any permanent pain or damage from this. I feel so guilty. Please keep him in your prayers. 
Update 7/19-
When the vet called us back today, he said that they ended up taking the catheter out yesterday because it was coming out and they claim that he is urinating on his own. They said that there is still some blood in his urine. We are picking him up tomorrow morning and should know more. I am so excited but anxious to see him. I hope he is his happy, excited self and that he has no lasting problems from this horrible experience. I'll let you guys know how it goes. Thank you so much for all your prayers.
Update 7/20-
Well, we just got back from the vet a little while ago. My poor baby is so swollen and has about six inches of staples. I've never seen anything like it. It looks like he has a small football under his skin. He looks so uncomfortable and has been pacing the house. Just now he laid down and seems to be relaxing (as much as he can with that stupid cone they have on him.) He is still urinating some blood as well and is on a bunch of medications. We have to take him back on Monday to have the staples removed, so for now we just have to pray that he heals. I'm just so happy to have him home again.
7/21-
We had such a terrible night last night. We were up all night with Jensen. He was vomiting and his abdomen was super swollen and very red. (this is now five days after the surgery). I took his temp but he didn't have a fever. He wouldn't sleep...just paced and would lay down for a few minutes. By early morning,
he wouldn't even do that. He just stood there. When we could get him to lie down, he was having violent shakes. We rushed him back to the vet as soon as they opened. They are giving him IV fluids and meds again and are taking some blood to make sure he doesn't have an infection. The vet said he was a little dehydrated and that the shaking was probably pain related. He said that the area is definitely more swollen and that he is trying to bring the swelling down with ice packs otherwise he may have to go in and drain some of the fluids. I am so sorry to have to ask for your prayers again. I can't believe my little man has to go through more.
Update 7/23-
Sorry I haven't updated. I haven't been on the computer much. Jensen came home again yesterday. He seems more like his old self and he has not vomited again so far, thank God. We are applying ice packs to his swollen abdomen every couple of hours but it does not seem to be helping much. He is going to have to go back on Monday and have surgery to clean out his abdomen of the fluid or blood that is collecting there. There is so much it looks like a football is under his skin. I took a picture but it would make you sick if I posted it. It is another big surgery and I am so worried. It's more opportunity for infection, etc. I just have to keep praying that he will be ok and that there will be a day when we can look back on this whole episode as a bad time gone by. I'll keep everyone posted. DH, Jensen and I thank you again for your continued prayers.
UPDATE 7/27-
Hi all. Well, Jensen had his second surgery yesterday. I was a nervous wreck all day. It turns out that he had a large hematoma (collection of blood) in his abdomen and had also popped three internal stitches so it was good that the vet went back in. He cleaned everything out and put a drain in to let any excess blood clear out. We just came back from visiting him and he looks so much better! He was much more energetic and definitely more himself, plus he doesn't have this huge bulge in his abdomen anymore. The vet said the plan is to remove the drain tomorrow and make sure everything is ok. If it is, Jensen can come home on Thursday!!!  I can't wait to put this whole ordeal behind us and I really have to thank you all for your continued thoughts and prayers for my little guy! You are all wonderful!
8/13- FINAL UPDATE :)
I just wanted to let you all know that Jensen got his stitches out on Monday and everything seems to be back to normal! He is running around and so happy to be without the cone (poor thing had it on for a month)! I want to thank you again for all of your prayers and support. This was a terrible ordeal and we are so glad that it seems we are finally putting it behind us. Thanks again for everything!!!

oh no! that is terrible  my boy also had an undescended testicle but the vet did a good job. how upsetting. i hope he heals quickly and w/o any after effects

That picture is heartbreaking.
Don't worry, I'm sure he's going to be just fine. Do you know about the Comfy Cone? Petco sells it now, and it's soft enough where he can wear it all the time, even when he sleeps, for more comfort. The collar slips through loops on it, and then you velcro it. It's been invaluable to us.

Bring one of his collars with you (and measure it) so you know which size to get. The cone looks like this:
I folded the bottom edge down so Brinkley could play with his Kong. The only thing is, any unused velcro sections can stick to carpeting. I found that out one day when I came home to find an area rug stuck to the side of Brinkley's head. 
It's great though, to make sure the incision line doesn't get infected. I hope Jensen feels better soon.
