I am so sorry to read this, what rotten luck! But the important thing is that he is okay, and he still has the other testicle.
I probably wouldn't have done anything either--DSs penis gets reddish from time to time, probably from diaper irritation, so I can't say I would make much of this either. Don't blame yourself.
