Re: Please rave about a formula you now use for a once gassy baby...
DD was screaming from gas in the beginning as well. My ped said no to Mylicon and gripe water too. He actually explained it really well to me. When they're in the womb their digestive system doesn't have to do the work, but once they are outside and eating it starts to work and they become uncomfortable because they're not used to that feeling. He said DD would get used to it and she did, so I'm sure your DS will also.
But we did switch to Enfamil Gentlease. We use Playtex Ventaire bottles and they're the only ones DD does well on (the standard Advanced ones, not the wide ones). Tommee Tippee and Playtex Drop-ins didn't work for her. If you want to continue with the drop-ins, are you squeezing the air out of them before giving DS the bottle? Also, I make DDs bottle and then change her diaper so the bubbles have a chance to disappear before she gets the bottle.
Now she still has plenty of gas, but it never bothers her. The gas is healthy.

I used the mylicon drops for a while with DS. Then he had reflux so we switched him to similac sensitive and added rice cereal to his morning and last bottle when he was 7 weeks old.
I started with the playtex drop ins and I didnt feel like it was doing much so I got the born free bottles, I liked those the best.

From a ped dietitian:
I first would recommend gent lease - it is the only one like it on the market that has reduced lactose and partially broken down proteins. (store brands are lactose free products like sim. sensitive). YOu don't want to do sensitive b/c AAP recommends that you stay on a milk based product that contains some lactose.
If gentlease doesn't work after 2 weeks you could try going to prosobee - but I am not a big fan of soy products b/c it is not patterned like BM.
