Please recommend a book to read to DD nightly

I was thinking of getting a thick hardcover book to start reading to DD at night before bed. Gabby's 5 months so I know she won't 'get' the story but that's ok!

Please recommend a book or series of books that we could start reading.

Thanks!! Chat Icon

ETA: I think I was unclear...I meant more of like a novel.

Yeah I have those and have read them to her but I was thinking something longer that I could read to her over a couple of nights at the minimum, KWIM?

We have the Runaway Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown, same author as Goodnight Moon.

We get the Lap editions, they are oversized.

The velveteen rabbit. You can read a few pages a night. OR shel silverstein poems. The rhyming patterns will amuse her and the words will amuse you!

When I was a kid my mom read the Lord of the rings books to me. A few pages every night, or a chapter.

Re: Please recommend a book to read to DD nightly

I have a couple of large hardcover books that have a collection of a few Dr. Suess stories. This may be a good choice for what you are looking to do.

We normally alternate between that, a few Curious George books, some Winnie the Pooh stories and a handful of others. DD is at the age where she tells us what she wants to read each night and we pick something from that series of books.
