Please recommend NYC restaurant between Radio City and Wollman Ice Rink
Hoping some NYC ladies can help me out!
Meeting OOS friends at Radio City after they get out of the Christmas show around 3:30.
I'll be driving in with DS and my mom (so if you can recommend parking too, that would be great!). We have an event at Wollman Rink which is Central Park South (59th) and 6th.
Where can we go to have light dinner and drinks that is not too pricey/fancy, kid/stroller/highchair friendly? And that's on the way to Wollman Rink or not too much out of the way? Trying to avoid cabs with DS/stroller (does he ride without a carseat for a few blocks?).
I see lots of burger/pub/steak houses on google maps but have no idea which are dives or not. My mom was thinking Maria Pia Italian on W51st but I'm not sure if that will be too long of a cold walk in the dark to the ice rink after?? We have to be there at 6pm.
Thanks!!!

Do you have a preferred cuisine or any budget constraints? Trattoria Della Arte I think is en route - it's really good, but quite expensive as I recall. Alfredo's of Rome is good and just down the street from Radio City. You're also pretty close to Bar Americain (Bobby Flay's restaurant) and McCormick & Schmick's. If you give me more info, I can recommend others.

Thanks! Yeah, quite expensive is not in favor. Bobby Flay's place sounds fun for both my mom, whom I know likes him, and for the Texans we're meeting up with! I'll pass it on and see what they think.
I'm meeting a 9 year cyber friend from TX for the first time in person. She's early 40's and will be with her mom (aged accordingly). I'm 37 with 16 month old DS and my mom. So not a pub but not a dinner jacket. The TXns are here with a group of 11 ladies for a fun soak up NYC visit but the two are taking the time to hang with us for a few hours before we go to our Wollman Rink event that night.
Any chance there's something that meets that criteria that may have a nice view of some action or the "tree"?! I know a lot of city restaurants are tucked in with no windows.
Thanks for your help!

D, I used to live right there. Molyvos has great greek food. Maison is nice. Bar Americain would be a good choice.

Well, you can see the tree from Sea Grill, but their prices are insane. There's also Rock Center Cafe but I'm not sure about the food and it's a tourist trap. Alfredo's is right on the same block so you might get some views from there. That area is tough because it's a lot of tourist traps, expensive expense account restaurants, and inexpensive lunch dives for the normal people who happen to work there - not a whole lot of in between. My husband suggested Redeye Grill, but I've never been. I have been to Bar Americain more than once and it does not disappoint and is nice and loud so that helps when you have a child. La Bonne Soup is also near there and is kind of a local, inexpensive gem IMO, but I'm not sure if it's open - there was a fire over a year ago and it was shut down for renovations while I still worked in the area - it's probably open by now, but I would check first. There's also a Fig & Olive near there and I went to a bridal shower luncheon there recently and really enjoyed it - really good food, not too expensive. HTH.
