Brick house brewery in patchogue has a good pasta and scallop dish.
As far as broadening your tastes, I started DS on fried scallops. Then I made them scampi style. I also got him started on fried shrimp, then shrimp and broc from the Chinese food places. I added shrimp to scallops over pasta. Made some breaded/baked white fish (all white fish is tilapia to him). Then made it with some lemon, butter, paprika and old bay. I added capers to mine (he doesn't like olives)! One day he decided he wanted to try the pink fish. There was leftovers so I made salmon burgers, which I like better then baked salmon. HTH

It's not fancy----you order at a counter----but we like Southside in Lindenhurst.
I also believe they have a second location on the Northshore. Commack?
Also is Pete's in Island Park still around after the hurricane?
(Although I think they were only open in the warmer months anyways).

There's a Legal Seafood at Walt Whitman mall but not 100% that it's still there.

Waterzooi has some great seafood dishes. Their moules pots are really tasty, they have raw options, and their namesake dish - the waterzooi - is out of this world.

The Fishery on Ocean avenue in East Rockaway, super fresh and won't break the bank. I love their crab cakes, stuffed shrimp, fried shrimp, fried calamari. They have awesome garlic mashed potatos and creamed spinach. Save room for dessert too, they have awesome desserts.

Re: please recommend your favorite seafood restaurant & your favorite dish from there.
South Shore Fish Market aka Artie's in Island Park. They have a market where you can purchase food and a sit down area where you get waiter service. It is hands down the best place for fresh seafood on the south shore. He can tell you what he caught that morning. It does get crowded on the weekends and the parking lot is small and it can get very difficult to find a spot. Bring your own wine, they do not have a liquor license.
There are also a few great places in Point Look Out on the Bay Side. Point Lookout Clam Bar-very causual and gets very crowded during the summer season Fisherman's Catch-sit down
I'm not sure if the Fishery in East Rockaway has reopened. I do not like the food at Pete's Clambar at all.
