I have a cheapy one.. I think it's Hamilton Beach actually. It does the job and it has the appropriate attachments so I'm happy with it. My stick blender is not one of the things I feel needs to be expensive.. but I may be in the minority there!!

I got a cuisinart one 2 years ago & love it....AFTER I got over my fear of it, because I sliced my fingers with it....PLEASE be careful!!!

I have a cuisinart too and OMG I did the exact same thing. It was horrible. I do love it now though.

I have a cuisinart too and OMG I did the exact same thing. It was horrible. I do love it now though.
I dont want to scare anyone, but I had to mention just how easily you can hurt yourself in the kitchen. It happened NYE of 2010-2011 & my nail still hasn't grown back to 100% strength. I was lucky I sliced it just below where the nail starts it's grown (below the skin line) & my DH didn't want to chance stitches into the bed. So that part we left to heal, but my thumb did require some stitches. And I'm lucky it didn't hit the bone.
Lesson LEARNED to unplug & no go near the blade!!!!
