if you had allergies and/or asthma during your pregnancy or pregnancies. This is #2. I had mild allergies during #1, but just used a little saline and my runny nose was tolerable. With this pregnancy I have full on wheezing, severe shortness of breathe, hacking, phlegm, sneezing. My doc gave me Claritin and an inhaler, which I have used the past few days for relief and they have worked BUT I am very concerned about the drug effects on my unborn kid.

If you took any of these (or other similar) medicines did you worry? Does you baby have developmental issues?

Sorry to be a worry wart, and I know its most important to breathe, to first and foremost get oxygen to the baby, but I am just nervous about drugs in general and pregnancy.

I was a wreck with DD when it came to allergies. I would be a mess...eyes tearing, coughing, runny nose, wheezing...you name it. I did take claritin but only when things were out of control and I couldn't function at work.

If I was at home I didn't take anything, I was too worried about even taking the claritin, I just dealt with it. I wasn't answering phones or interacting with co-workers so I didn't have to look pretty or worry about sneezing or coughing on someone.

DD is fine and doesn't have any birth defects, so I would say take it as much as you feel comfortable with.

I never took any allergy medicine, but I used an inhaler for asthma maybe three times. Doctor said it was safe.

I get sinusitus several times a yearChat Icon (awful, bedridden symptoms) and I heard that this year's allergy season is expected to be severe. I have no explanation as to why but by some miracle while I was pregnant I never got it. I had hoped that maybe my body changed but unfortunately all of the symptoms came back again a few months PP.

It can be awful, so, so tired and just "in a fog".
I hope it passes and you feel better soonChat Icon Chat Icon
